Exploring Life & Business with Alondra Barajas Murillo of ABM FINANCIAL TEAM

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alondra Barajas Murillo.

Hi Alondra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Alondra Barajas, I’m 32 years old, originally from Mexico, and I began my journey in the life insurance and retirement planning industry in 2021, shortly after moving to the United States. Starting over in a new country came with many challenges — adapting to a different culture, building a business from scratch, and earning people’s trust in an industry where financial education is often overlooked, especially within the Latino community.

What motivated me from the beginning was the desire to serve and genuinely help families create a more stable financial future. I quickly realized that many hardworking Latinos in the U.S. are never taught how to properly save, protect their income, prepare for retirement, or build long-term wealth. I made it my mission to educate our community in a simple, honest, and approachable way.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to grow my agency, ABM Financial Team, and today more than 600 clients trust me and my team to help them with life insurance, retirement strategies, and financial planning. What makes me most proud is not just the business growth, but the impact we’ve been able to create in people’s lives. Many of our clients are first-generation immigrants, hardworking families, and entrepreneurs who simply needed guidance and someone they could trust.

As a Mexican woman who arrived in the U.S. in 2021, building a business that now generates over $200,000 annually is something I’m incredibly grateful for. But for me, success is not only measured financially. True success comes from knowing that my work helps families feel more secure, more informed, and more hopeful about their future.

A big part of my journey has also been using social media to educate and empower people through financial literacy. I believe information changes lives, and sometimes one conversation or one piece of advice can completely change the direction of a family’s future.

My story is proof that with faith, consistency, and a genuine desire to help others, it’s possible to create opportunities not only for yourself, but for your entire community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles was earning people’s trust. Financial services, especially life insurance and retirement planning, can be difficult topics because many people have had negative experiences or simply don’t understand how these strategies work. As a young Latina woman in business, I often had to work twice as hard to prove my professionalism, knowledge, and commitment to serving clients the right way.

Another challenge I noticed was the lack of financial education available to the Latino community. Many families are hardworking and motivated, but they simply haven’t had access to the right information or guidance. Instead of seeing that as an obstacle, I decided to turn it into my purpose. That challenge became the reason I started using social media to educate people in a more relatable and accessible way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We focus on educating people first by offering complimentary financial consultations, showing options so people can make informed decisions about their future. We specialize in Indexed Universal Life.

What truly sets us apart is the way we serve our clients. Our agency is guided by values such as honesty, empathy, commitment, and genuine care for the people we work with. We believe financial guidance should feel personal, trustworthy, and educational — not intimidating or sales-driven.

Another thing that makes our business unique is that we are able to serve clients nationwide. No matter what part of the United States someone is located in, we are committed to providing guidance and support.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always considered myself a risk taker. Moving to the United States on my own was one of the biggest and most challenging decisions of my life, but it also became one of my greatest sources of motivation and growth. I’m driven by adventure, personal development, and the belief that stepping outside of your comfort zone is often where the biggest opportunities exist.

I’m not afraid of failure because I see every challenge as a lesson. If something doesn’t go as planned, I learn from the experience, adapt, and keep moving forward.

I can be very daring, optimistic, and sometimes even a little naive, but I think that willingness to trust the process and take chances is also what has allowed me to build the life and business I have today.
