Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Pape.
Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! I’m Ana Pape, a Houston-based food photographer and visual storyteller. As a former geologist in the oil and gas industry, I bring the same sharp eye for detail to my creative work. Food photography allows me to combine my love of baking with a passion for storytelling—capturing more than just delicious moments by focusing on texture, nuance, and composition.
Today, I partner with both local businesses and national brands, offering everything from product photography to recipe development, all crafted to feel genuine, engaging, and true to each brand’s identity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road isn’t always smooth, and that’s okay. I’ve learned how important it is to invest in yourself—whether that means taking classes, seeking out mentorship, or simply being persistent. During slower periods between client work, I turn to personal creative projects. They help me stay inspired, keep my skills sharp, and sometimes even serve as a much-needed reset. It’s about maintaining momentum without burning out.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Just a Bit More Cinnamon?
I run a food photography and content creation business where I specialize in capturing warm, inviting imagery that tells a story. I work with both local and national food brands to create custom imagery and recipes that align with their identity and connect with their audience in a meaningful way.
What sets my work apart is the blend of technical precision and storytelling. My background as a geologist taught me to observe closely and communicate clearly—skills I now use behind the camera. I strive to create visuals that spark emotion and build trust between a brand and its customers.
Brand-wise, I’m proud that my work feels honest and approachable. Whether I’m creating scroll-stopping visuals for social media or styled imagery for packaging and websites, I bring a partner mindset to every collaboration. My goal is always to help my clients shine and grow their business.
For readers who are just discovering my brand: I offer food photography, recipe development, styled product shots, and lifestyle imagery. Every project is tailored to your goals, with a focus on authenticity and storytelling.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
This journey wouldn’t be what it is without the support of my husband who has been one of my biggest cheerleaders from the very beginning. I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to work with some generous mentors, fellow creatives, and coaches along the way—people who not only helped me improve my photography and composition but also guided me in how to run a creative business. Their advice around marketing, pitching, and setting boundaries has been invaluable.
And of course, I owe a lot to my clients—especially the early ones—who took a chance on me. Their belief in my work gave me the confidence to keep going.
