Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea & Darin Moore.
Andrea & Darin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
One Saturday night in August 2018 we had an event at our home called a “Sit Around”! A Sit Around is when we would invite friends to enjoy an evening of good food, good music and good follow-ship.
That particular evening we served our famous Tacos and they were a hit. Folks enjoyed them so much, they kept goin on and on about them and how delicious they were. The next morning as my husband and I reflected on how well the evening went, we could not stop talking about how our guest loved the Tacos. I suggested to my husband (Darin Moore) that we could sell them. He asked how, we both knew a restaurant was not an option. So I goggled how can I sell my Tacos! One of the options that came up was Food Truck. So I goggled where could I get a Food Truck near me and the cost of the Food Truck. That search came back with a company called Best Built Trailer and it was 20 minutes up the road. The search continued on how to develop this ideal into a reality. Once we figured out where to get a food truck, now we had to figure out who was in charged of this process. We continued to gather information on this process by learning the Health Department and Planning and Zoning were the agencys that handled this issue. Mind you, we knew nothing about this process and if it would even be possible to do. We were literally armed with an ideal and we knew we had a great product to sell, everybody loves Tacos! I decided our approach would be to partner with both agencies to at least try to make it happen or at the very least be able to educate our self on this process. Once that Partnership was formed, We were off to the races and the rest is History. Currently we are 7 years of running a successful food truck business and we operate 2 food trailers in the CSRA area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course the were snuggles and obstacle along the way. The most stressful part of the process was having to make the decision to make the investment up front and be committed without any guarantee that we would be giving our food permit to operate our food trailer or be giving a business license. That is why the partnership that we developed in the beginning was KEY. I had to literally build relationships with the people in both agency’s. It was important for them to know who we were and we were serious about doing this project right the first time and we needed their guidance to ensure that we were successful in that goal.

We are proud of how we are helping our community discover a healthier way of eating. we often tell our customers who request beef “We don’t serve congestive heart failure”, we explain to them if they like beef, they would love the Turkey because it has the same texture as beef, but a healthier option. The best part of that, is when our customers come back after eating their meal and thank us for the meal and how delicious it was.
