Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Smith.
Anita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I moved to Houston in May of 2020 from Killeen Texas. I was there for 3years. I had a Business in Austin. I decided to move to Houston after doing a military Ball Dec 2019. I wanted a fresh start and to be in a bigger city where my career would thrive. I thought working at Wal-Mart salon would help build my clientele as I know anyone in Houston.. only after being at the Walmart salon in Cypress for two months, the owners ask to transfer me to the 529 & Hwy 6 location to be a Salon Manager and Hairstylist.
I stayed there till January of this year 2022. A year and a half and decided to open Infinity By Designs Hair Salon & Spa directly across the street from Walmart. I have built my clientele from 0 to now entire book of clients in less than two years. I have experienced some obstacles along the way and still am. But nothing I can’t overcome. I have some awesome and very supportive clients. I love them all. They have been like family. I’m so appreciative, as coming here hoping for the best. and turned out for the Great.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not at all. Getting paid so much less than my experiences. Dealing with employees to be underpaid..not quite having enough to pay bills. But somehow making away, I started door dashing and doing a favor. Sometimes I would take clients at home. I had to look at the bigger picture. And that was for me to own another Salon one day.
