Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Ewald.
Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our dream has always been to open a cafe where families and friends could go to get great food and drinks while enjoying a wonderful atmosphere.
Both my husband and I have worked in the restaurant industry where we met each other. Originally from Wisconsin, we moved to Texas and fell in love. We learned about Kolaches and started to make them for our children. They turned out to be amazing and from there we decided to share them with all of Houston.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting from scratch has been a learning experience for us. It has had its highs and lows while we built out the location, especially during Covid with the uncertainty of what to expect.
We had several delays in the process which extended our Grand Opening. Still, we pushed through it and even with the economic worries, we knew that our product and service would be strong enough to overcome any obstacle that lays in front of us.
As you know, we’re big fans of Kolache Kafe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kolache Kafe was established in 2022 to provide Houston with gourmet Kolaches, Cinnamon Rolls, and Premium Coffee Drinks. Our mission is to deliver top customer service and high-quality products to ensure customers have an enjoyable experience. All of our product is baked fresh daily and our coffee is roasted weekly from a locally sourced Houston Coffee Roaster, “Java Pura”. We created an inviting atmosphere where family and friends can hang out and enjoy each other’s company. Or come in and utilize our speedy free internet and get some work done while enjoying a premium drink.
We specialize in traditional kolaches which are packed full of flavors you would see from the past. A few are poppyseed, cream cheese, or various fruits. Our savory flavors, traditionally called Klobasneks, but here in Houston are still labeled Kolaches, are packed full of ingredients to make sure every bite is full of flavor. Our coffee is full of flavor and a premium bean that sets us apart from many other coffee shops. You can enjoy a specialty flavor from our menu or come in and tell us what you like, and we can make it. Enjoy Iced or Hot lattes, cappuccinos, or just a cup of joe that will not disappoint. Join us for happy hour in the mornings between 6 am and 8 am during the weekdays for specialty pricing that will surely make it a daily stop.
