Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Hiatt of Every Member Counts™

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hiatt.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with a simple interest in helping people communicate their stories more clearly. I have always enjoyed the behind-the-scenes work that helps a message come together — organizing ideas, supporting conversations, refining content, and making sure the final product feels polished, natural, and meaningful.

That interest eventually led me into podcast production, where I discovered how powerful audio and video content can be for building connection. A great conversation can do more than inform people. It can help members feel recognized, create a stronger sense of community, and give organizations a consistent way to share the voices and stories that matter most.

Today, through my work with Every Member Counts™, I get to focus on that mission every day. I help support the production process so organizations can turn member stories, leadership conversations, and community updates into content that feels professional, engaging, and easy to share. It is a collaborative effort, and I love being part of a team that helps organizations strengthen relationships with the people they serve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Podcast production has shown me that the hardest work is often the work people never see. Like many creative and production-focused roles, one of the biggest challenges has been helping people understand how much thoughtful work happens behind the scenes. A strong podcast or video conversation may feel effortless when someone listens to it, but there is a lot of planning, coordination, editing, organization, and care that goes into making content feel clear, natural, and valuable.

Another challenge has been helping organizations see content as more than something to “post.” For member-based organizations especially, podcasts, videos, and interviews can become a powerful way to build trust, highlight real voices, and strengthen relationships. That shift takes time because many organizations are busy serving their members and may not always have the internal capacity to think strategically about storytelling and engagement.

Those challenges have actually shaped the way I work today. They taught me to be patient, detail-oriented, and focused on making the process easier for the people we support. My goal is always to help organizations share meaningful stories without feeling overwhelmed by the production process.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Every Member Counts™ supports associations, nonprofits, and member-based organizations by helping them use content to build stronger connections with the people they serve. We specialize in podcast production, video editing, content repurposing, and member-focused storytelling that helps organizations highlight real voices, share meaningful updates, and stay connected with their community.

What sets us apart is that we do not see content as just something to post. We see it as a relationship-building tool. A podcast episode, member spotlight, leadership interview, or short video can help members feel recognized, informed, and valued while giving organizations a consistent way to communicate their mission.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that the name Every Member Counts™ reflects the heart of the work. We help busy organizations bring their stories forward in a way that feels professional, personal, and manageable so their members feel seen, heard, and connected.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Houston is the diversity, energy, and opportunity here. Houston is full of people with different backgrounds, stories, industries, cultures, and ideas, and that makes it an inspiring place to build relationships and create meaningful work. There is always someone doing something interesting, serving a community, launching an idea, or finding a new way to make an impact.

I also love that Houston has such a strong sense of connection beneath its size. It is a large city, but it can still feel very personal when people come together around a mission, organization, cause, or shared purpose. For the kind of work we do, that matters because strong communities are built through real stories and real relationships.

What I like least is probably the traffic and how spread out everything can be. Houston has so much to offer, but it can take time and effort to get from one part of the city to another. At the same time, that also reminds me how important it is for organizations to create consistent ways to stay connected with their members, even when everyone is busy and moving in different directions.

Pricing:

  • Our monthly support packages generally begin at $750 and increase based on the level of strategy, production, engagement, and reporting an organization needs. Because every organization is different, we prefer to start with a conversation so we can learn about their goals and recommend the best fit.
  • Some organizations need help consistently executing content they already have planned. Others need support with engagement, retention, member outreach, podcast production, video editing, newsletters, or metrics. A conversation helps us identify what will create the most value without adding unnecessary services.
  • The best way to learn more is to reach out and schedule a discovery conversation. From there, we can recommend the right level of support and help the organization move forward with a plan that feels clear, manageable, and aligned with its members.
