Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashvin Senthil Kumaran.
Hi Ashvin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a strong passion for cars and competition. As a student at Texas A&M University, I started Vector One Racing to bring together racing, business, and learning. What began as a small idea has grown into a program where I help students gain real experience with sponsors, teamwork, and racing. Building it taught me how to turn ideas into reality and how rewarding it is to help others grow through motorsports.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been funding. Getting sponsors and building trust with companies takes time, persistence, and a lot of outreach. There were times when progress felt slow, but learning how to communicate value, manage budgets, and stay determined made the experience worthwhile.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Vector One Racing?
Vector One Racing is a student-led motorsport organization that focuses on racing, engineering, and business development. We specialize in building partnerships with brands, managing sponsorships, and helping students gain hands-on experience in competitive racing environments. What sets us apart is how we blend real-world racing with professional skill-building, giving students opportunities to learn project management, marketing, and technical teamwork through motorsports.
I’m most proud of how the brand represents ambition and collaboration. Vector One Racing isn’t just about cars, it’s about creating a community where students can grow, connect with industry professionals, and prepare for future careers through the field of racing.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest advice is to be genuine and curious. Most mentors and professionals appreciate when someone shows real interest rather than just looking for opportunities. Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and learn from others’ experiences. For me, building connections has come from simply starting conversations; whether at events, online, or through mutual interests like racing. Consistency and authenticity go a long way, and over time, those relationships often turn into mentorships or collaborations naturally.
