Exploring Life & Business with Blake Reyes of Wise Guys Barber Social

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Reyes.

Blake Reyes

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Long story short. Becoming a barber gave me direction and a purpose. It saved me from myself. After a few hiccups in my late teens early 20s, my career options became limited. Manual labor and dead-end jobs were pretty much my only options until a good man named Aquiles Delagarza planted the idea of barber college in my head, and after a few years of back-breaking construction work, I decided to enroll.

I didn’t realize it, but my grandmother and great-grandmother were both hairstylist, so I guess it was just in my blood.

After completing barber college, that good man gave me an opportunity

to work with him opening The Woodlands Barbershop. After a year and a half there and with the success of his shop, I decided to spread my wings. Moving from a commission shop to a booth rent shop for 6 months off FM 1960 and i45. Having success there, I really took a leap of faith and decided to open a shop of my own, Wise Guys Barber Social 2, years into my barbering career.

With faith, perseverance, positive mind frame, and a good team, we have been in business for a little over 6 years now.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been easy a lot of learning curves, covid shut down, finding good help. But the positives outweigh the negatives. And we focus on the goals and not the problems.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
