Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Curry and Tressa Smith.
Hi Chelsea and Tressa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Tressa Smith and I became friends our freshman year at the University of Texas at Austin. We both shared similar interests in decorating and planning events on campus. Not too long after that friendship began, we became roommates and best friends. We always talked about event planning and decor and jumping into something together, but with a lot of prayer and determination, we decided to take a leap of faith and go for something that they were both passionate about and loved doing.
Using both each other’s strengths of planning and design, we created Moments in Time Events in August of 2020. What started as a small event turned into a full-blown business for small and major events. We created an event planning side where we coordinate and plan out all of the details of each client’s event. But also, we managed to incorporate a design side where we customize each intricate detail for each client’s event. We are now a full-service event planning agency specializing in weddings, events, and decor. We feel as though every event should be celebrated and captured as a beautiful Moment in Time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a bumpy road for sure, haha, but definitely well worth it. One of the main challenges we face are we are a small business totally run by just us two! Although we have the help of some of the vendors we hire, all of the small to even all of the major details are curated by solely us two. People are usually shocked when we tell them this because they think we have an entire team behind us. We also have additional full-time obligations attached to our business. Chelsea is a graduate student obtaining her second degree, and Tressa is a full-time Kindergarten teacher.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our business offers full-service event planning and design services. We create custom details for each of our clients down to the small intricate details, all the way to the big, overall idea. All of our clients we have worked with always talk about how organized we were for their event. This is what relieves all the stress from our clients because the precise organization allows all of their questions to be answered and no more worrying to happen on their behalf. We are different from other event planning companies for three reasons: one being that each client gets to work directly with us, allowing a more intimate partnership. This usually excites clients because they feel more comfortable that their true vision will come to life. Another reason being that we not only provide detailed coordination of all the moving pieces of each event, we customize every inch of the design that goes into each event. Custom invitations, signage, floral arrangements, etc. These are all things clients are like, “OMG, I thought I had to do that myself. I had no idea your services came with all of that!”
Lastly, we are flexible! We custom out prices to each client’s budget so they love that our business is super affordable with a luxurious experience regardless of our client’s budget. Not only that, but we cater our meeting times, communication, budget, and more to each specific client. We are most proud of the fact that we built this business from the ground up. Although there were challenges, it is very rewarding that we were able to bring both of our previous experiences together to create an amazing business. We would like everyone to know about us and what we offer. We are genuinely in the business for creating an experience like no other for each of our clients and we would love to make that happen for all of your readers. With the opportunity and acknowledgment, we can create anyone’s moment in time!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Chelsea’s favorite childhood memory is when she used to travel to the Atlantis, Bahamas, with her family every year. Tressa’s favorite childhood memory was going to the fair with her family every year for Texas vs. OU games.
