I have four cats of my own, and my love for them truly feels endless. Living alongside them has made me deeply aware of how distinct each one is. Their personalities, play styles, sensitivities, and routines vary so much, and that constant discovery sparked my fascination with feline behavior.
Over time, I began to notice something missing in the pet care space. While pet sitting is widely available, dedicated cat centered services felt limited. I asked myself what I would want if I were looking for someone to take care of my cats while I am traveling. I would not want someone simply stopping in for basic check-ins. I would want someone who genuinely understands my cats, interacts with them intentionally, and pays attention to subtle shifts in mood or habit.
With that perspective in mind, I founded Claire and Cats in Houston. My goal was to build a refined, cat exclusive service grounded in knowledge, presence, and professionalism. I want families to feel completely comfortable leaving both their homes and their kitties in my care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, it has been a smooth and fulfilling journey because I started with clarity. I understood the experience I wanted to provide and built my services around that from the beginning.
That said, every business comes with challenges. One of the biggest has been education. Many people are not initially aware of the difference between general pet sitting and specialized feline care.
