Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtnay Falcon.
Hi Courtnay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved here as a single mom with my two young boys when Hurricane Katrina uprooted us from Louisiana. Houston has been our home since and we embraced the city and all it has to offer. I decided to start my career in Esthetics at the Aveda Institute in The Woodlands 12 years ago. It was the best decision I made. My passion for the beauty and health industry, as well as my tenacious personality, has allowed me to help women feel better n more confident about themselves. I always say if you look good, you feel good! The last ten years, I’ve worked beside some of Houston’s best Doctors doing Laser treatments, Medical grade skincare, Body Contouring and I’m also a Phlebotomist. I then expanded my skills to Business Operations Management of several well-known Medspas within the city. I then discovered my talent for body waxing and started my side business six years ago. I managed my Doctors business during the day, then managed mine during the evenings until I finally took my waxing and skincare business, Snatched Beauty, full-time two years ago. It has grown rapidly. I’m currently looking for my second location in the Houston area while creating my dream team!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? What’s that!? My entire life has been full of bumps and hurdles, and I love it! It’s made me the strong, determined and ambitious woman I am today! Coming from a tough home life, leaving when I was just 16, then becoming a single Mom at 19 motivated me and gave me the drive to succeed no matter what. Nothing I’ve done or have today has come easy but I wouldn’t trade those life experiences even if I could. I’ve been broke, homeless, shunned by family for my personal choices. I’ve had to do everything on my own. My entire life has been a struggle and that’s what makes my success so sweet! I won’t stop here either! There is so much more to come… I’m just getting started.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I have a medical skincare and waxing business. I love to do corrective treatments to help Woman and Men feel more confident about themselves. I’m very big on Woman empowerment as well and I love supporting other small local businesses. I think it’s so important to support your own community. I specialize in Brazilian waxes and I’m known to have a very comfortable professional technique like no other. I also specialize in removing hyperpigmentation (discoloration) on face and body, especially with ethnic skin.. I also do yoni v-Steams for vaginal rejuvenation, body bleaching, micro-needling, chemical peels, teeth whitening, and much more. I recently created an amazing after-wax full-body scrub that I can’t keep in stock! I’m super proud of my all-natural organic creation. I think what sets me apart is my extreme passion and care for my clients and getting them results. I truly treat my clients like we are family. It’s more than business for me. I have a genuine bond with every client that walks thru my doors.
Can you talk about how you think about risk?
The biggest risk I ever took was getting a u-haul, packing up my remaining belongings and my one-year-old and four-year-old sons and moving to Houston where I knew nobody and creating a new life for us on my own. It’s also been my biggest reward!
