Exploring Life & Business with Cynthia Anderson-Madueke of PsychEase Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Anderson-Madueke.

Hi Cynthia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Cynthia Anderson-Madueke.
I’ve always had a deep passion for working in the medical field—a passion that began early in life. One of the most defining moments for me was helping to deliver a baby at the age of 12. That experience opened my eyes to the beauty of caregiving and sparked a lifelong commitment to helping those in need.

Originally from West Africa, I later moved to the United States with my family. While I initially pursued a path in microbiology, I soon realized my true calling was in nursing. I found immense fulfillment in caring for the sick and bringing comfort and smiles to the lives of others.

However, my journey didn’t stop there. As I continued to grow in my nursing career, I developed a deeper interest in mental health. This led me to pursue advanced training and ultimately become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Today, I am proud to support individuals through some of their most vulnerable moments and to be an advocate for mental wellness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. The journey through education was challenging, especially while balancing the responsibilities of being a wife and mother. Without the support of extended family, it often felt overwhelming. There were times when juggling school, family, and daily life seemed nearly impossible. However, along the way, I was fortunate to build strong friendships with people who became like family. Their encouragement, support, and shared understanding played a crucial role in helping me navigate the difficult moments. They were instrumental in my success, and I’m incredibly grateful for the community that grew around me during those years.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck—I believe in God’s grace and divine timing. My journey has been deeply rooted in my Christian faith, and I truly believe that every step I’ve taken—whether it seemed like a setback or a breakthrough—was guided by God’s hand.

There have been many challenges along the way, from navigating life in a new country to balancing family, education, and building a practice. But through it all, my faith has been my anchor. I’ve experienced moments that others might call “lucky,” but I see them as answered prayers and God’s favor.

My foundation in Christ has shaped not only my personal life but also the mission and values behind PsychEase Therapy. It reminds me daily to lead with compassion, humility, and purpose. So while others might say luck played a role, I say with confidence: God comes first, always.
