Exploring Life & Business with Diana Oquendo of Mamas Emprendedoras En el Gabacho

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Oquendo

Hi Diana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
“Mamás Emprendedoras en el Gabacho” started with a simple idea: to connect and empower Latina moms living in the U.S. who are balancing motherhood with their entrepreneurial dreams. As a mom and entrepreneur myself, I’ve faced the challenge of navigating a new system, overcoming cultural barriers, and pursuing my goals. This inspired me to create a space where other moms could share their stories, learn from one another, and feel supported.

The podcast began as a very personal and organic project, inviting incredible women
Diana Oqueno expert in plans and construction permits.
Susana Martionia expert in commercial insurance and finance
Isabel Zetina: Marketing expert
Mariana Morales: Administrative services expert
Johema Hernandez: Sales expert with unique stories to share. Over time, our community has grown, and this year, 2025, feels extra special. We’re launching our second season , and we’ve welcomed a new co-host to the team, adding fresh perspectives and even more depth to our conversations.

Today, we’re still dedicated to creating content that inspires, educates, and motivates Latina moms in the “gabacho” to follow their dreams while caring for their families. It’s a project we’re incredibly proud of and love with all our hearts—and we’re just getting started!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—like any entrepreneurial journey, it’s been filled with challenges. Starting “Mamás Emprendedoras en el Gabacho” meant juggling a lot: my responsibilities as a mom, running my business, and learning the technical and creative aspects of podcasting, which was completely new to me.

One of the biggest challenges was finding the time and energy to create meaningful content while managing the demands of daily life. There were moments of self-doubt, wondering if the stories we were sharing would resonate or if we were reaching the right audience.

Another struggle was navigating cultural and language barriers. Even though our target audience is Latina moms, we realized early on that every woman’s experience is unique, and creating content that feels inclusive yet deeply relatable takes effort and constant learning.

Despite the challenges, each obstacle taught us something valuable. The support from our growing community, hearing how our podcast has inspired or helped someone, and seeing the impact of sharing these stories have made every struggle worthwhile. It’s been a journey of growth and resilience—and one we’re so grateful for!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Any big plans?
The future of “Mamás Emprendedoras en el Gabacho” is exciting and full of possibility! Here’s what we’re looking forward to and planning for:

1. A Bigger, Better Podcast
We’re launching Season 2 in February 2025, and this time, we’re thrilled to have a new co-host joining the team. This will bring fresh perspectives and richer conversations to the podcast. We’re also planning to feature more guest interviews with inspiring Latina entrepreneurs, experts, and moms from different industries.

2. Expanding Our Offerings
While the podcast is at the heart of what we do, we’re planning to expand into workshops, webinars, and even in-person meetups or events. These will be focused on providing actionable tools, mentorship opportunities, and networking for Latina moms who want to grow personally and professionally.

3. Community Growth
We want to continue building a strong, supportive community both online and offline. We’re looking into launching a private online group or membership platform where listeners can connect, share resources, and support one another beyond the podcast.

4. Content in Both English and Spanish
To reach and support even more moms, we’re exploring bilingual content. We understand that some of our audience feels more comfortable in Spanish, while others prefer English, so we want to make sure our content is inclusive and accessible to all.

5. A Long-Term Vision
We’re planning for three seasons in 2025, each with a clear theme to guide our conversations and content. Over time, we hope to grow into a recognized brand that represents empowerment, connection, and success for Latina moms in the U.S.

We’re most excited about the opportunity to reach and inspire more women. The stories, connections, and collaborations that are ahead fuel our vision to become a go-to resource for Latina moms balancing family and entrepreneurship. There’s so much more to come, and we can’t wait to share it with our community!
