Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Alyssa Easley PT, DPT.
Hi Dr. Easley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a native Texan and grew up outside of Austin, TX. In college, I studied kinesiology (exercise science) and got my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. I always knew I would end up in a career helping and serving people. Ultimately I chose to pursue physical therapy, because I saw the impact it had on my brother growing up. I earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX which is what initially brought me to the Houston area. I’ve been practicing physical therapy for almost 6 years now. I’ve had an interest in pelvic health physical therapy since the birth of my first daughter while I was in physical therapy school. Prior to that, I always assumed I would work in pediatrics. My first job after graduating from PT school was in pediatrics but I still had the desire to pursue working with Moms in pelvic health. After getting mentorship and taking many training and continuing education classes, I was able to practice in pelvic floor therapy full time. I absolutely love the work that I do. I get to meet people from all backgrounds, all ages and various stages in their lives and careers. Helping them improve aspects of their pelvic health is rewarding to me and makes a huge difference in my clients’ lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This process of starting a concierge pelvic physical therapy practice has not been a smooth road. Prior to this, I never thought I would be one to go into business for myself because it comes with such responsibilities. I have enjoyed getting to learn about the behind the scenes of a PT business but also allowing myself to grow personally to be able to experience life as an entrepreneur.
We’ve been impressed with West Pelvic Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
West Pelvic Wellness is a woman owned and operated concierge pelvic floor therapy practice in Katy, TX and serving the surrounding West Houston communities. Pelvic floor therapy has never felt more customized and comfortable than when your therapist can come to you in the comfort of your home. Pelvic Health is a specialized field within physical therapy, focused on treating bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, prolapse, diastasis recti and other various conditions related to pregnancy and postpartum. West Pelvic Wellness is unique because it is one of the first concierge pelvic floor therapy practices servicing Katy and the surrounding areas. As a believer in holistic health care, I work with my clients to create a therapy plan of care that works with who they are and where they are in life in order to improve your pelvic health. I offer one-on-one physical therapy sessions for one hour (or more on request). I also offer virtual pelvic physical therapy sessions in all of TX. If you’re wondering if pelvic PT is right for you, I also offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your case or whatever questions you may have.
I am proud that my brand is client-focused and convenient. I want people to feel empowered in their pelvic health and to know that they don’t have to live with pelvic floor dysfunction or pain for the rest of their lives.
