Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Tracee Seals, DHA, CFRE, CCHW of NILocity Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tracee Seals, DHA, CFRE, CCHW.

Hi Dr. Tracee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has always been rooted in service, leadership, and creating opportunities for others. Over the past two decades, I have built a career spanning nonprofit leadership, fundraising, community development, higher education, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. Throughout that journey, I have had the privilege of leading initiatives that have raised millions of dollars, supported families in need, expanded access to education, and helped entrepreneurs and small businesses grow.

Today, I serve as the Principal Consultant and CEO for NILocity Consulting as well as the Southwest Region Entrepreneurship Strategy and Partnerships Lead for the Howard University and PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship, where I work across six states to create programs, partnerships, and resources that support aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators. I am also the founder of NILocity Consulting, a company focused on helping athletes, creators, entrepreneurs, and organizations navigate the evolving worlds of NIL, Web3, blockchain education, and the creator economy.

My path has not been without challenges. A breast cancer diagnosis became one of the most difficult experiences of my life followed by a year later with an endometrial cancer diagnosis. These two life changing events have reinforced the importance of resilience, purpose, and making a meaningful impact. That experience deepened my commitment to helping others build sustainable opportunities, create generational wealth, and pursue their goals despite obstacles.

Looking back, every chapter of my career has centered on one mission: connecting people to resources, relationships, and opportunities that can transform their lives and communities. That mission continues to guide everything I do today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the leader I am today. Like many entrepreneurs and professionals, I have experienced career transitions, organizational changes, funding challenges, and the constant balancing act of serving others while pursuing my own goals. Building programs, partnerships, and businesses requires persistence, especially when navigating uncertainty and creating opportunities where none previously existed.

My greatest challenges have been health related. Within a relatively short period of time, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and later endometrial cancer. Facing two cancer diagnoses while continuing to lead programs, support communities, and grow my business tested me in ways I never imagined. There were moments of fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty, but those experiences taught me the value of resilience, faith, and perseverance.

Those challenges also reinforced an important lesson: setbacks do not have to define your future. They can become part of your purpose. Today, I am even more passionate about helping others pursue their dreams, create economic opportunities, and build legacies that extend beyond themselves. Every obstacle has strengthened my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others. I also help to mentor other entrepreneurs on how to work through their challenges as well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about NILocity Consulting?
NILocity Consulting was founded to help individuals and organizations navigate the future of influence, ownership, and innovation. We specialize in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) strategy, athlete branding, creator economy education, Web3 technologies, blockchain literacy, digital asset awareness, and business development. Our clients include student athletes, entrepreneurs, educational institutions, nonprofits, creators, and businesses seeking to understand and leverage emerging opportunities in today’s digital economy.

What sets NILocity Consulting apart is our ability to bridge traditional business strategy with emerging technology. Many organizations are interested in NIL, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Web3 but struggle to understand how these innovations translate into practical opportunities. We focus on education first, helping clients develop sustainable strategies that create long term value rather than chasing trends.

In addition to consulting services, we provide workshops, speaking engagements, strategic planning, ecosystem development, partnership cultivation, and educational programming designed to increase economic mobility and entrepreneurial success. Our work is grounded in accessibility and inclusion because innovation should not be limited to a select few.

What I am most proud of is the impact we create. NILocity Consulting is not simply about technology or branding. It is about helping people recognize the value of their ideas, talents, and intellectual property. Whether we are working with a student athlete building a personal brand, an entrepreneur launching a business, or an institution developing innovation initiatives, our goal is to empower individuals to create opportunities, generate income, and build lasting legacies.

I want readers to know that NILocity Consulting is helping shape the future of entrepreneurship by making emerging technologies and economic opportunities understandable, accessible, and actionable for everyone.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things I love most about Houston is its incredible diversity. You can experience cultures from around the world without ever leaving the city. Our food scene reflects that beautifully. Whether it is authentic Nigerian cuisine, Vietnamese dishes, Tex Mex, soul food, Caribbean flavors, Indian specialties, or award-winning barbecue, Houston offers a culinary experience that brings people together across cultures and backgrounds. Food has always been a powerful connector, and Houston exemplifies that every day.

I also appreciate Houston’s strong sense of community and entrepreneurship. This is a city filled with people who are willing to collaborate, support one another, and build something meaningful. As someone who works closely with entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, and educational institutions, I have witnessed firsthand how Houston embraces innovation while remaining deeply rooted in service and community engagement. There is a spirit of resilience here that is difficult to find elsewhere. I lived in 4 other states and yes, my experience was nice, but it will never compare my city. And the fact of being a “Southern Girl”. Give me my boots over my stilettos any day!

What I like least about Houston is probably what many residents would say: the traffic and transportation challenges. As our city continues to grow, commuting can become a significant obstacle for both businesses and families. But this is when you put on the music of your favorite H-Town artist and do car karaoke and move through the traffic.

Even with those challenges, Houston remains one of the most dynamic and opportunity rich cities in the country. It is a place where people from all walks of life can pursue their dreams, build businesses, create community, and find a sense of belonging. That combination of culture, innovation, and heart is what makes Houston special.
