Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaine Edmonds.
Hi Elaine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making skin care products in 2019 as a hobby, long before the storefront you know today. What started as a simple hobby making natural plant based products for my family and friends started to grow into something bigger. I have always had a passion for creating. As a child you could find me in the kitchen, mixing ingredients and coming up with my own “recipes”. I loved to cook, and still do. In a way, what I do here at Lane’s Line is not much different. I am still creating and crafting formulas just with different ingredients. My interest in more natural focused products came from wanting better options for myself and my family. So many items out there are filled with ingredients that are not good for us so I wanted a better alternative. Once I saw more of my extended family and friends having an interest in my products I started an Etsy shop and then went to a few markets as well. I wanted to expand even more but found it difficult and felt the need for a storefront. Then I came across this spot in Tomball and it felt right. It seemed like the perfect place to open a storefont so I immediately jumped in. Opening a store was a huge leap, and while it was very scary it felt just right. It has allowed me to connect with the community in a whole new way. From the smell of soap curing and body butters in the making to seeing customers return for their favorite items it has become a space filled with purpose and creativity. I really enjoy making new products and seeing the happiness it brings to others is so exciting to me. It feels awesome to see someone else loving a product that you made. Lane’s Line has grown far beyond what I had imagined it would have 6 years ago. I now create a full line of products here at Lane’s Line from lotion, body butter, sugar scrubs, tallow balm and bath bombs to beard oil and candles and more. All crafted right here in the store using simple, clean ingredients, thoughtful formulas and products you can feel good about using. The support I have from family, friends and a community who believe in what my business stands for is what keeps me going. Even as I grow, my passion remains the same to make clean products that make a difference and are good for you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a pretty smooth road along the way but of course there have been some challenges. Marketing the business and getting more foot traffic in the store. A lot of people do not know that I am here so getting the word out has been a slight challenge but overall it has been a smooth road so far.
We’ve been impressed with Lane’s Line, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I handcraft natural, plant based products for bath, body and home. I am dedicated to creating products that feel good and are good for you. This is a passion driven business rooted in quality, creativity and wellness. Every product is crafted with intention and has gone through multiple trials. From lotion, body butter, sugar scrub, tallow balm, lotion sticks, bar soap, essential oil rollers, bath bombs, laundry wash to deodorant, bug off, candles and more products in the making. We have a little something for everyone. Our items are made in small batches to ensure freshness and consistency. We use good ingredients that you can trust. We specialize in plant based skincare that nourishes without harsh chemicals. We have home essentials, and a men’s line as well. Lane’s Line is not a mass product brand. It is hands on, where every product is tested, refined and created with people in mind. What sets us apart is that we are clean, honest ingredients, small batch for quality, and have a genuine love for creating. We are more than just a brand focusing on what goes into a skin and home care. When you shop with us you are supporting a small business, handcrafted products, and a belief that our products make everyday life a little better.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I never viewed myself as a big risk taker, I seemed to take the safe route when it came to huge life decisions. Opening this store was one of the biggest risks that I have taken, but I am so glad I did. I thought : if I don’t try then I’ll never know. And I felt that if I didn’t risk it there could be a regret but I knew that trying would not lead me to regret. So now I would say, as long as it makes at least some sense, take the risk!
