Exploring Life & Business with EMINE of E PLUS INTERIORS LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to EMINE.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into design started long before I officially launched my firm. I’ve always been drawn to architecture, art and sketching. I studied Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in Turkiye at Hacettepe University, then later moved to Houston to pursue my Master of Architecture at the University of Houston.
After graduation, I worked as an architectural designer on a variety of projects and gained experience across healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and residential design. While I enjoyed the broader architectural process, I always found myself more connected to interior architecture and the human experience within space. I was especially interested in how materials, lighting, textures, and spatial atmosphere could shape everyday life and emotions. That passion eventually led me to open my own interior design studio.
Alongside professional practice, teaching also became an important part of my journey. I taught studio course at the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design, as well as sketching techniques courses at other universities and colleges. Teaching helped me better understand the importance of communication, mentorship, and encouraging creativity through process and exploration.
I’m also involved with Women’s Council of Entrepreneurs as a local leader of the Garden Oaks chapter, where we meet monthly with other women entrepreneurs for networking, collaboration, and business education. Being part of a supportive entrepreneurial community has been a meaningful part of my growth both personally and professionally.
At the same time, I continued painting and sketching outside of work. Art became a way for me to reconnect with creativity beyond deadlines and technical drawings, and it continues to influence how I approach design today. Over time, I realized I wanted to create a studio that blended both worlds technical design knowledge and artistic expression.
That vision eventually became E Plus Interiors. I founded the studio with the idea of “Designing Spaces with Soul” focusing on creating interiors that feel thoughtful, functional, and emotionally connected to the people who use them.
Looking back, my story has really been about growth, resilience, and trusting my creative voice. I’m still learning every day, and I’m excited to continue building meaningful spaces, collaborations, and experiences through design.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Like many creative and entrepreneurial journeys, there were a lot of uncertainties, challenges, and moments of self-doubt along the way. Moving to a different country, adapting to a new culture, and rebuilding a professional network from the beginning all came with their own difficulties.
Starting my own studio was another major challenge. Beyond design itself, I suddenly had to learn about business development, contracts, marketing, client communication, finances, and managing every aspect of a growing company. In the beginning especially, there were moments where balancing creativity with the realities of running a business felt overwhelming.
Another challenge was learning how to trust my own voice and creative direction. In design fields, it’s easy to compare yourself to others or feel pressure to follow trends, but over time I realized the importance of building a practice that feels authentic to who I am and how I see design.
At the same time, those struggles taught me resilience, patience, and adaptability. Every project, every challenge, and even every mistake helped me grow both personally and professionally. Looking back now, I think the difficult moments shaped my perspective the most and helped me create a more meaningful and intentional approach to design.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
E Plus Interiors is a Houston-based interior design studio focused on creating thoughtful, functional, and emotionally connected spaces for residential and commercial projects. Our work ranges from home renovations and custom interiors to cafés, hospitality spaces, and commercial environments. We provide services including space planning, renovation design, finish and material selections, custom cabinetry and furniture concepts, lighting design, furniture sourcing, 3D visualizations, and design documentation.
At the heart of the studio is the idea of “Designing Spaces with Soul.” What sets us apart is the combination of architectural thinking, technical design knowledge, and artistic vision. With a background in both architecture and interior architecture, we focus not only on aesthetics, but also on functionality, circulation, lighting, materiality, and the overall human experience within space. We also care deeply about working within our clients’ budgets while bringing creative and thoughtful design solutions tailored to their needs and lifestyles.
Every project is approached with careful attention to detail to create interiors that feel timeless, layered, and intentional rather than trend driven. Whether it’s a home, café, office, or hospitality concept, our goal is to create spaces that are visually compelling, technically strong, and supportive of everyday life.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I’ve learned through this journey is that if you feel strongly about making a move or starting something new, waiting too long usually only creates more fear and hesitation. You learn so much while being inside the process itself. I believe growth often comes through action, experimentation, and figuring things out along the way rather than waiting until everything feels perfect or fully planned.
For me, creativity has never been only about making spaces look beautiful. Design is really about problem solving, storytelling, and shaping the way people experience everyday life. A thoughtfully designed space can influence emotions, productivity, comfort, and human connection while creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories within the environment.
As for E Plus Interiors, I’m excited to continue growing the studio, collaborating on meaningful residential and commercial projects, and bringing more architecturally thoughtful and emotionally connected spaces into the community. Houston has such a diverse and inspiring creative energy, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
