Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric & Elaine Johnson.
Eric & Elaine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are Eric and Elaine of Houston, a husband-and-wife relationship coaching team. Together, we are Eric and Elaine On Life, a relationship education and skills training company. After 30 years of marriage, six daughters, and major setbacks, we maintain our commitment by doing “the work” and are dispelling the myths that “good things never last.”
Our love is juicier now than when we were two strangers agreeing with the Most High to take this journey together. In 1994, we looked fear in the face, and against all odds, the naysayers, and the unknown, we held onto the one constant thing we had… a word. It was the spoken word to CHOOSE purpose as a couple, NO MATTER WHAT. Our relationship has been shaped by challenging moments and difficult days, and we have no regrets. We want to be known for our focus on healthy relationships, hope, and healing; our goal is to dispel myths, restore faith in Black love, and ultimately support singles in developing new insights and healthy behaviors that serve as the foundation for mature love, which will attract their ideal partner. We want people to see us not as experts, but as their friendly neighbors in the cul-de-sac, or as their auntie and uncle who are committed to being honest about the ups and downs of a wonderful, adventurous lifetime of love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been easy for a city girl and a country boy, both from single-parent households, engaged three months after meeting, despite there being a baby on the way from a prior relationship, a near-fatal car accident, and an armed robbery during our engagement. We have a unique perspective because we overcame major setbacks, conflict, and loss to establish a nonprofit featured on Disney ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” authored “Manage Your Marriage: Master the Workplace,” and launched Eric and Elaine On Life, a relationship coaching business as Relationship Architects.
The top questions people would have for us are: “How did we know he/she was the one?” “How did you stay together? “How did you handle baby momma drama and baby daddy madness?” “How did you keep smiling through it all?” “How did you raise well-mannered and well-rounded children who actually get along?”
Most people don’t know that we’re also interested in and love motorcycles, classic cars, theater, and music.
We’re determined to show up as the best version of ourselves because we want to see people develop and thrive in healthy relationships… NO MATTER WHAT. This is what keeps us focused on our goals.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a husband-and-wife coaching team, we are passionate and practical in our approach. We live and love – on purpose by choosing love daily. We are not perfect, but we are determined to break generational cycles by creating a legacy of love. We specialize in teaching healthy relationship principles and helping high-achieving marriage-minded singles become a love magnet by making their mind marketable for marriage to attract their marriage-minded mate. We craft our curriculum for couples to support those who are committed to evolving and flourishing together on the path to long-term love.
We are known for hosting fun, interactive, strength-based relationship skill-building workshops and retreats for singles and couples in relationship overwhelm, and our husband-and-wife coaching team sets us apart. To put it simply… relationships are easy; people are complicated. We share tools that offer ease back into relationships to overcome challenges and develop resilience. Our brand represents our long-term commitment to resilience, providing a positive and transformative experience.
We offer “strengths-based” services focusing on what you do well to build upon the areas of growth. Our services are proactive and preventative.
Eric and Elaine are now launching premiere group programs, premium memberships, and in-depth master classes and workshops for 2026.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
First, be honest about your personal wants and needs and clarify your relationship goals. Next, research potential mentors through professional associations or within your current network of friends and learn about their backgrounds. Make the best decision for whom you feel is the best fit.
