Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Malveaux.
Hi Hope, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked in corporate America for years in the human resources field. Like many people who start a career in human resources, at the beginning I choose this profession because “I love people.” More than that, I enjoyed helping people. I soon found out that it was less about helping people and more about the administrative task, putting out fires, and keeping the company compliant. Though I enjoy those aspects of human resources, I wanted more focus placed on the employees. I wanted to help leaders think more holistically about their actions and place a higher emphasis on employee engagement. The idea for Veaux Professional Service was birth through the desire to bring human interaction back into human resources. I launched Veaux Professional Service in April 2019.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When Veaux Professional Services launched I had no way of knowing that a pandemic would be looming. It was hard to market the business when companies did not know what they were facing long-term. ConnectPro faced the same issues. It felt impossible at times to get in front of clients. Networking opportunities came to a complete halt for a period as we all focused on working virtually.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Veaux Professional Services?
Veaux Professional Services has a focus on human resource consulting services, merger/acquisition human resource management, life insurance, and employee training. In 2020, I Co-Founded a company called ConnectPro. ConnectPro is an easy-to-use platform that delivers a human capital solution for employee engagement.
We help small to midsize companies by partnering with them to ensure they reach their short-term and long-term goals. We provide one on one support to coach managers and leaders with compliance matters, training, etc. We understand the needs of our clients and will provide a customized plan of action to support their human resource needs.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those who are starting a business, I would encourage you to know your “why.” Remember why you started the business in the first place. Your “why” will sustain you when things are not going great. Make sure to stay around like-minded individuals and do not be afraid to partner with other businesses to help clients. Four major things that I have learned on my entrepreneur journey.
• Be clear on what your customer is buying
• Know your market and competitors
• Fail Fast
• Do not quit
