Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmie Sue Frazier.
Hi Jimmie Sue, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Affordable Divorce was born from seeing how overwhelming and expensive the divorce process could be for ordinary people. I realized that many people were caught in a difficult situation: they needed help navigating the paperwork and process, but they couldn’t afford the thousands of dollars that traditional legal services could cost.
With my background as a paralegal working under the supervision of an attorney, I saw an opportunity to provide a more affordable option for people who wanted to handle their own divorce but needed guidance along the way. That became the foundation for Affordable Divorce.
What started as an idea to help people navigate an otherwise confusing and intimidating process has grown into a business that I am incredibly proud of. We help clients understand the paperwork and process while providing affordable, flat-fee assistance for those who choose to represent themselves.
For me, Affordable Divorce has always been about more than paperwork. Divorce can be one of the most stressful and emotional times in someone’s life, and I wanted to create a place where people could feel like someone was actually there to help them—not judge them and not make an already difficult situation even more financially overwhelming.
Today, I am proud of how far Affordable Divorce has come and, most importantly, of the people we’ve been able to help. Every time a client tells me that we made the process easier, less frightening, or more affordable for them, I’m reminded of exactly why I started this business in the first place.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been building trust. Divorce is deeply personal, and people are often coming to us during one of the most stressful and emotional periods of their lives. I had to work hard to establish Affordable Divorce as a business that people could trust—not only to provide affordable services, but to genuinely care about the people we serve.
There have also been the everyday challenges of running a small business: learning how to market, keeping up with technology, managing the business side of things, and constantly finding ways to reach people who may not even know that an affordable option exists.
There have been frustrating days, setbacks, and plenty of moments when I wondered if I was doing everything right. But I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out when you start. You just have to keep moving forward, learn from the challenges, and stay committed to why you started.
The struggles have actually made me more passionate about Affordable Divorce. They’ve taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of never losing sight of the people we’re here to help. Looking back, I wouldn’t say the road has been easy—but I can say it has been incredibly rewarding.
We’ve been impressed with Affordable Divorce, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Affordable Divorce is a Texas-based business that provides affordable, flat-fee divorce assistance to people who choose to represent themselves in their divorce. We help clients navigate the paperwork and process so they don’t have to feel overwhelmed trying to figure everything out on their own.
What sets us apart is our focus on making the divorce process more accessible and less intimidating. Not everyone needs—or can afford—a traditional full-service attorney, but that doesn’t mean they should have to navigate a complicated legal process completely alone. Our goal is to bridge that gap.
We specialize in assisting clients with the preparation of their divorce documents and helping them understand the procedural steps involved in their case, while working under the supervision of an attorney. We are not trying to replace an attorney; instead, we provide an affordable option for people who want to handle their own divorce but need professional assistance with the paperwork and process.
I am especially proud that the word “Affordable” in our name isn’t just a marketing slogan. It represents the reason the business exists. Divorce can already be emotionally difficult, and I believe financial hardship shouldn’t make an already challenging situation even worse.
We are also proud of the personal attention we give our clients. People aren’t just case numbers to us. Every client has a different story, different circumstances, and different concerns. We take the time to listen, explain the process, and help them move forward with greater confidence.
Most of all, I want readers to know that Affordable Divorce is about giving people options. We believe that if someone chooses to represent themselves, they should have access to affordable, professional assistance along the way. Our goal is to make the process simpler, more understandable, and less financially overwhelming—while treating every person who walks through our door with compassion and respect.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are several people who deserve credit for the success of Affordable Divorce, but one person in particular has played an incredibly important role in my journey: Equator Turner of the Turner Law Firm.
Equator has been much more than a mentor to me. She has been a supporter, an advocate, a sounding board, and someone who has believed in me and my vision from the beginning. Her guidance and encouragement have helped me grow both professionally and personally. Having someone with her knowledge and experience who was willing to share her wisdom with me has been invaluable.
She has also been someone I could turn to when I faced challenges or questioned myself. Entrepreneurship can sometimes feel lonely, and having a mentor who believes in what you’re building can make all the difference. I am incredibly grateful for her continued support and for the confidence she has helped instill in me.
I also owe so much to my clients. They have trusted me during some of the most difficult and personal times in their lives, and that trust is something I never take for granted. Their feedback, referrals, reviews, and willingness to share their experiences with others have helped Affordable Divorce grow tremendously.
And finally, I have an incredible support system of friends, family, and people who continue to cheer me on. Every entrepreneur needs people who believe in them, especially during the moments when things aren’t easy.
Affordable Divorce may have my name and vision behind it, but I certainly didn’t build it alone. I am grateful for every person who has encouraged me, challenged me, believed in me, referred someone to me, or simply reminded me to keep going. They are all part of the story behind Affordable Divorce.
