Today we’d like to introduce you to John Chambliss
Hi John, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is one of many twists and turns, but I am grateful for every one of them. I was raised by the best parents I could ask for, and I can’t forget to mention I’m the baby of 6. My parents instilled in me honesty, loyalty and a work ethic that is unmatched. After graduating high school I was unsure if the path I was creating. I walked into a 24hr fitness and applied for a personal trainer job. After a little bit of training I was hired and set off to help others! I quickly learned that I loved teaching and watching people succeed, it’s a feeling that is hard to explain. After 1 year I ventured off and opened my own personal training business, I was terrified. I was training from 5am to 8pm every day, I knew what I had to do to be successful. Hard work paid off and the business was doing great. In 2006 my life took a turn that I wasn’t ready for. In October I had a motorcycle wreck that nearly took my life. I was in the hospital for 17 days, had surgery on my left hip and left humerus. I was told I’d never be able to workout and do my normal activities, I laughed and said ok. As soon as I got home I started my own rehab, with researching proper movements to make sure I was doing the right thing. Exactly 1 year later I was in the gym rocking and rolling. Defying the odds was what I was aiming to do and I accomplished it.
I still had a feeling of unfinished business. I had always wanted to be a firefighter just never had the chance. After a long talk with my wife we decided now is the time. So on top of training my clients I took on the Fire academy! I passed all of the necessary programs and started volunteering to get some experience. Once involved I dove in head first and ran with it, I fell in love! Getting hired on full time was a goal and I accomplished that 1 year after setting that goal!
As with many companies my fire department performs random drug tests. I was called in for a random test and with no concern I went and took the test. To my surprise I failed, I popped a false positive for meth!!!! My chief called me in and we began investigating, come to find out a pre workout I was taking at the time had an ingredient called DMHA which is the base molecule for meth! So we found the culprit thank goodness. Over come with anger and confusion I began researching the supplement world. I then learned supplements were not FDA tested, this means companies could put what we ingredients they wanted into their products.
So now I had another talk with my wife and I needed to find a solution for this problem. That night 48str8 supplements was born! I was determined to build a company that was trusted and had 100% transparency. Fast forward 4 years and the business is surpassing all of my goals. We have contracts with local fire departments that we provide 48str8 BCAAS! My mission is to build this company as big as I can and get clean, safe supplements in everyone’s hand!
None of this would happen without the support of my family. My wife Cari, son Gavin, and daughters Camryn and Cassidi. My family is my heart and my breath I do everything for them!
My story has just begun!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No successful road is smooth. I have had to tackle financial and personal hurdles. The only way to overcome any hurdle is through determination and hard work. I have a support system that has the strength that I need!
