Exploring Life & Business with Johnny “JJ” Williams of MNTL Game

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny “JJ” Williams

Hi Johnny “JJ”, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m JJ with MNTL Game Apparel @mntlgame. I’m from New Orleans, LA. I moved to Houston after Katrina. I’ve started a clothing brand called MNTL Game. I believe that life’s a mental game, and you need the right mentality to survive! So I started a clothing brand to help spread messages of positivity, motivation and support for mental health. Instead of promoting negative mentalities and negative ways of life are being glorified and being passed through generations now. As I grew, learned, and studied I realized that I had to start or help some where.

MNTL Game is all about promoting positive mentalities through our apparel and giving back to the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy at all. I’ve faced many challenges in my startup. Such as shadow banning on social media, ineffective ad agencies, catching the attention of my peers, low stock or no stock, and balancing work with business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Mentality matters, most importantly mental health matters. MNTL Game is a clothing brand that not only looks good but also supports mental health awareness and advocacy. Our high-quality, stylish pieces are designed to empower and uplift those who may be struggling with mental health challenges.

With each purchase, a portion of the proceeds goes towards helping individuals who are actively promoting change in their communities. By feeding the homeless, offering counseling, and creating job opportunities. When wearing MNTL Game apparel, you are not only making a fashion statement but also showing your support for those who may be facing mental health issues.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was a kid, I loved every opportunity to travel, because it didn’t happen often. Whether it was to my mom’s house or to my favorite theme park. Traveling had to be my favorite memory.
