Exploring Life & Business with Kail Moore of DJKuj0

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kail Moore.

Hi Kail , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Where I’m from (Mo City, Tx) music sets the mood. I grew up around different sounds—R&B, hip-hop, Southern classics. My DJ journey began with a deep appreciation for sound, rhythm, and energy. What started as curating playlists to ride around and bang in my 2006 Honda civic with 2 15s in the trunk evolved into mastering the art of live mixing and crowd engagement. Over time, I developed a signature style rooted in timing, flow, and atmosphere. Today, I approach every set with intention—creating an experience, not just a playlist.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. Early on, I faced inconsistent bookings, underpaid gigs, and the pressure of proving myself in rooms that didn’t always give DJs a fair shot. Learning to adapt to different crowds, handle technical issues on the fly, and navigate the business side of DJing was a challenge in itself. Those experiences forced me to grow faster, stay prepared, and treat every opportunity—big or small—with intention.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The brand (DJ Kuj0) is rooted in versatility and authenticity. Whether it’s a lounge, nightlife setting, or curated event, DJ Kujo blends sound and energy in a way that feels natural and connected. Every set is approached with purpose—balancing crowd favorites with seamless transitions and a deep respect for the culture.

DJ Kujo isn’t about chasing trends or attention. It’s about consistency, professionalism, and creating moments that people remember long after the music stops.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor and building your network isn’t about collecting contacts—it’s about forming genuine connections. Early in my journey, I realized that the people who can help you grow are those who are invested in you, not just your brand or name. Look for people whose work you respect, whose ethics you admire, and who have experience in areas you want to grow in.

For me, the best approach has always been showing up consistently. Attend shows, open mics, industry events, or even local DJ meetups. Engage with people authentically—ask questions, listen, and offer value where you can. Don’t just think about what someone can do for you; think about what you can learn and how you can contribute to the community.
