Hi Kapembwa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Hub Connection LLC is a medical supply and durable medical equipment (DME) company based in Houston, Texas. My journey into the healthcare and medical supply industry began from a deeply personal place. My son’s battle with sickle cell disease, which requires regular blood transfusions and ongoing medical support, opened my eyes to how critical access to reliable, high-quality medical equipment is for families facing health challenges. What started as a personal struggle turned into a purpose-driven mission.

Through this experience, I realized that medical supplies are more than just products — they are lifelines. This inspired me to build The Hub Connection with a focus not only on general medical supplies, but also on mobility equipment and patient support solutions that help people maintain independence and dignity in their daily lives.

Today, The Hub Connection provides a wide range of FDA-approved medical supplies and mobility equipment across the United States. We are proud to work with trusted and well-known U.S. brands such as Drive Medical, McKesson, Medline, Pride Mobility, Merits Health, and Sunrise Medical, ensuring our customers receive dependable, high-quality products they can trust.

At our core, we are driven by service, compassion, and reliability. Our mission is to make quality healthcare equipment accessible to those who need it most, while delivering exceptional customer service. We don’t just supply equipment — we aim to support families, caregivers, and patients on their healthcare journey with care, integrity, and dedication.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been a smooth road. When we first entered the DME and medical supply space, it was a completely new business for us. One of our biggest challenges in the beginning was simply understanding where to start — from regulations and compliance to sourcing products and building the right supplier relationships. The healthcare industry has a steep learning curve, and as a new company, establishing credibility and trust took time.

What helped us overcome these challenges was embracing technology, the internet, and AI-driven tools. These resources allowed us to educate ourselves quickly, research products and compliance requirements, connect with reputable U.S. brands, and streamline our operations. Digital tools played a major role in helping us grow and operate more efficiently in a highly complex industry.

Today, because of that learning journey and our commitment to continuous improvement, we are able to provide a wide range of products — from everyday medical supplies like needles to advanced equipment such as X-ray machines and mobility solutions. The challenges we faced early on ultimately strengthened our foundation and shaped the company we are today.
