Exploring Life & Business with Lorena Oyague of @lorenabalance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Oyague.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was little, I loved watching I Dream of Jeannie and being fascinated by how she could transform situations and make people feel better with just a simple movement of her head. I never imagined that years later, through meditation, I would dedicate my life to helping people transform their emotional and inner state in a very real way. Getting to this purpose and professional path was far from a straight line; it has been a journey shaped by many experiences and lessons across different industries.

I was born and raised in Venezuela, a magical place filled with connection and joy. I spent much of my childhood at the beach, playing in the sand and creating everything my imagination could dream of. In that place I felt free and, without realizing it at the time, deeply connected to my inner peace. Looking back now, I can see that this was where the seed of my journey toward meditation was first planted.

In Venezuela, scientific and highly demanding careers were strongly valued — or at least they were in my family. Passionate about transformation processes, I decided to study Chemical Engineering, which later opened the doors for me to work in Innovation for large corporations such as P&G and Kimberly-Clark.

For personal reasons, I moved to Mexico, where I married my husband, and it was there that I left the corporate world and stepped into entrepreneurship. After two years filled with learning and resilience, we launched our healthy snack brand, dontworry, in Mexico, featuring one-calorie snacks.

When my first son was born, my husband and I completely stopped sleeping, and with a business that was rapidly growing and scaling, functioning without rest became unsustainable. So, with my engineering mindset, I did what felt natural to me: I studied the science of sleep to solve the sleep challenges we were experiencing at home with our baby. That journey led me to become a certified sleep coach, and for the next four years I helped more than 100 families navigate similar struggles. It became a beautiful professional chapter in my life because I realized I was not only helping babies sleep better — I was also indirectly helping couples improve communication, boundaries, and connection within their families.

Eventually, meditation entered my life as a way to protect my mental health during the pandemic. I had just returned to my professional life full time because my three children were finally all in school when, only a few months later, the lockdowns began. Surrounded by uncertainty, illness, fear, and homeschooling at home, I found myself drawn to guided meditations and journaling for the very first time. Meditation and exercise became the tools that helped me move through that stage without losing myself emotionally.

At the same time, our healthy snack business continued growing, and an opportunity came up to expand into the U.S. market, which led us to move to Houston. After living in Mexico for 15 years, arriving here truly felt like starting over. After everything I experienced during the pandemic, I knew it was finally time to dedicate myself to something I had always loved since childhood: human transformation. That was when I became certified as a meditation teacher through the Chopra Center. At the time, I could never have imagined the profound impact meditation would have on my personal life, family, and professional path.

Over the past few years, I have dedicated myself to teaching meditation and creating human transformation experiences, both personalized and group-based, for individuals and companies. My work focuses on nervous system regulation, mental reset, and emotional resilience, helping people move through life with more calmness while also having more energy to enjoy life and navigate all the different roles we carry.

I strongly believe that in the middle of the digital revolution and the rise of artificial intelligence, our human abilities will become our greatest strength and differentiator as parents, professionals, and individuals.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Despite the growing awareness and scientific research supporting the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of meditation, many people still perceive it primarily as a “spiritual” practice. In reality, meditation is a deeply human tool — one that helps us regulate ourselves, think more clearly, and navigate life with greater awareness in a world that constantly demands our attention and energy.

One of my biggest challenges has been reaching people beyond my immediate community by helping them understand that meditation is not about disconnecting from reality, but about becoming more capable of facing it.

What motivates me most is showing people that meditation does not require changing who you are or stepping away from ambition, performance, or daily responsibilities. Instead, it can become a practical tool to help people feel more grounded, emotionally resilient, mentally clear, and present in both their personal and professional lives.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I create human transformation experiences through meditation and breathing techniques, nervous system regulation, and emotional resilience practices for both individuals and companies. Through workshops, personalized sessions, women’s circles, and corporate wellness experiences, I help people navigate stress, emotional overwhelm, mental fatigue, and the growing pressure of balancing multiple roles in modern life.

What sets my work apart is that I approach meditation as a practical and deeply human tool rather than something purely spiritual. My background in engineering, innovation, entrepreneurship, motherhood, and wellness allows me to connect emotional well-being with real-life personal and professional challenges in a grounded and relatable way. My focus is helping people cultivate greater calm, clarity, resilience, and energy while still performing and leading at a high level.

What I am most proud of is creating experiences where people feel safe, connected, and genuinely transformed.
