Exploring Life & Business with Margarita Agudelo Ana M. Serrano of Prisma Kiddos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margarita Agudelo Ana M. Serrano

Hi Margarita Agudelo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started with Ana and her little girl, who loved exploring the world in her own unique way. Ana noticed that her daughter was interested in more than just stereotypical “girl” themes—she was drawn to STEM topics, nature, and outer space. Ana wanted to nurture this curiosity but found it difficult to find clothes that matched her daughter’s interests. She wondered how many other moms faced a similar challenge.

Margarita, a mom of two boys and with deep ties to the textile industry, was inspired by Ana’s story and saw a gap in the market. Recognizing the need for clothing that encourages kids to explore and express themselves, she decided to take action. With perseverance, industry expertise, and a passion for meaningful work, Prisma Kiddos was born — a brand dedicated to empowering children through fashion.

Prisma Kiddos has always been more than just a clothing brand. It’s a dream come true for parents who want to celebrate the limitless possibilities of childhood. We’re dedicated to sustainability, using premium, ethically sourced materials like Peruvian Pima cotton. Our clothes are designed to last, enduring play and countless washes, even to be passed down and loved again. Each piece combines durability, comfort, and timeless style, ensuring kids can enjoy them through all their adventures.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is definitely a journey! Coming up with the business plan for Prisma Kiddos during the pandemic brought its own set of challenges. But one of the biggest hurdles we’ve faced is how deeply ingrained stereotypes are in our society, often without people even realizing it. Think about how strongly pink is associated with girls or dark green with boys. Try finding a cute dress with dinosaurs on it—it’s not easy! Our idea is new and challenges the status quo that’s reinforced by so much of what we see online and in stores.

But we’re passionate about our mission: to go beyond these stereotypes. Every day, more people are starting to see the value in this approach. We believe kids deserve a world where they can be and do whatever they want, free from outdated stereotypes. We also believe in taking care of our planet, which is why we’re committed to moving away from fast fashion and embracing a high-quality, less wasteful product.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending summer afternoons in my aunt’s garden, climbing the old oak tree in the yard. That tree was my “forest castle,” where I imagined being a queen, but also an avid explorer! I’d spend hours up there, lost in my own world of stories and adventures.

That tree sparked the imagination that still inspires me today—a spirit that lives on in the designs of Prisma Kiddos.
