Exploring Life & Business with Matt Ryan of Heavy Mettle Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Ryan.

Hi Matt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started in fitness as I fell in love with the sport of bodybuilding. At the age of 19 I competed in a few natural bodybuilding competitions. Lifting and spending time in the gym has been my passion and a major component of my lifestyle ever since.

After graduating from college in Vermont, I moved to Austin and began working in the field of social work. I always wanted to help others.

Shortly after moving to Texas, I realized I wanted to make fitness my career. It was at that time I began personal training with clients and I started Heavy Mettle Fitness in April of 2019.

We now have our own studio in North Austin where we train clients who are looking for professional help taking their health and fitness to the next level.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Bodybuilding taught me that accomplishing any goal is never easy. If it is, maybe your goal isn’t ambitious enough!

Bodybuilding is obviously physically challenging, but it’s more of a mental game than anything else. Building the physique you want requires a hyper degree of consistency and effort that only comes with intense mental focus and discipline.

I don’t have a background or degree in business, marketing, or anything even resembling those fields. So, learning how to market my business and my services and run the “behind the scenes” elements of a business has been a learn as I go process.

Heavy Mettle Fitness is a private personal training studio that offers elite fitness services to clients looking to make changes to their health, body composition, and overall wellbeing.

We specialize in helping clients lose body fat, build muscle, and enhance performance through strength training.

Our staff practices what we preach, and our lives revolve around fitness.

We have a proven approach to personal training and fitness coaching that addresses our clients entire fitness regimen and that consistently delivers exceptional results.
