Exploring Life & Business with Michelle Pena of 318 Artisan Market & Charcuterie Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Pena

Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Three Eighteen Artisan Market & Charcuterie Bar started as a passion project rooted in my love for creativity, connection, and good food. As a mom of four, a wife, and a full-time teacher, I’ve always juggled multiple roles, but I’ve never let that stop me from pursuing what I love. What started as a fun way to curate beautiful and delicious charcuterie boards for friends and family quickly grew into something much bigger.

I saw how food brings people together, and I wanted to create more than just a product—I wanted to offer an experience. From hosting Charcuterie & Champagne workshops to launching a boutique at Painted Tree Westchase, every step of this journey has been about fostering community, supporting other small businesses, and sharing my passion in a way that fits into my busy life.

Balancing it all isn’t always easy—between teaching, parenting, and running a business, my days are full. But every event, every class, and every handcrafted board reminds me why I started. I love seeing the joy it brings to others, and that’s what keeps me going. Three Eighteen Artisan Market & Charcuterie Bar is more than just a business; it’s a reflection of my journey—one that embraces creativity, connection, and the art of making every moment special.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road—but every challenge has shaped Three Eighteen Artisan Market & Charcuterie Bar into what it is today. Balancing motherhood, teaching, and entrepreneurship has been one of the biggest hurdles. As a mom of four and a full-time teacher, finding the time and energy to grow a business while still being present for my family has been a constant juggling act.

There were moments of doubt—wondering if I could manage it all, questioning whether to take the next big step, and facing the unpredictability that comes with running a small business. Managing logistics, marketing, and events while still teaching full-time required a lot of late nights, early mornings, and sacrifices.

Another challenge was building brand awareness and finding the right audience. Introducing a niche concept like charcuterie workshops and a boutique-style market space in a competitive industry meant I had to get creative with my approach. Securing partnerships with businesses and venues took persistence, but every connection helped push the brand forward.

Despite the obstacles, I’ve learned that passion and perseverance make all the difference. Every setback came with a lesson, and every success, no matter how small, has been a reminder that I’m on the right path. The support from my family, community, and customers has been invaluable, making all the struggles worth it. Three Eighteen Artisan Market & Charcuterie Bar isn’t just a business—it’s a labor of love, built through dedication, resilience, and the belief that food can bring people together in the most beautiful ways.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about our city is the food and diversity. There’s truly something for everyone—from incredible hole-in-the-wall gems to high-end dining experiences. The rich cultural diversity means you can find authentic cuisine from all over the world, and no matter where you go, there’s a sense of community and connection through food. It’s inspiring to see so many small businesses, local markets, and food entrepreneurs thriving here.

What I like least? The traffic and the potholes! Getting around can be a challenge, especially during rush hour, and those potholes seem to have a way of sneaking up on you no matter how well you know the roads. But even with the traffic struggles, the energy and opportunities in this city make it all worth it.
