Today, we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Thomas.
Hi Miranda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was a teen mom, pregnant at 17 and delivered at 18, but I didn’t want that to define me or let my parents down. I utilized that as a stepping stone and wanted to show my parents that although I was a mother at a very early age, I could still conquer all that I wanted and desired. I still completed High School and College. It started after I divorced in 2015 with my high school sweetheart. I noticed that I couldn’t even purchase gum on credit due to the irresponsible decisions I had made. I started reaching out to big credit repair companies to fix my credit. To receive little to no real help, I decided that I would start researching how to fix my credit. After attending every seminar, ordering several books, and hiring a mentor I finally understood how to repair credit and started repairing my credit. Once I was able to do so, I found it fascinating and fell in love with it. I started critiquing my process and turned it into a business. I remember getting my first client, and after 30 days of receiving his results, his credit went up about 150 points on the first round of disputes. As I continued, I created a better plan each time that would benefit my clients and my business. I’ve been going ever since. Then I started to seek other things I liked to do, and the next adventure came in t-shirt creation and design. I was tired of paying $20 per shirt when I wanted my logo and other things I wanted. I ordered a Cricut machine and started learning how to make shirts. Then came freight dispatch and business setup. I turned all my hobbies into businesses. Doing this made my work easy and more enjoyable while serving others. I decided during every process that I would place every business in one of my children’s names so that I could leave a legacy for them and show them that they don’t have to be employees but employers and hire people who could benefit and build their legacy. I try to teach them all that I know about business and encourage them to start their businesses. Now, I teach others how to open businesses, apply for capital, and not make the same mistakes I made. I even teach a 4-week credit repair webinar showing others how to repair their credit.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not a smooth ride. No one wanted to give me the information I was looking for. They would give me sides to the meal but never the meat, bread, dessert, or drink. I was a single mom of 3 at the time, newly divorced, and was financially struggling. I knew nothing about the process and had to read a lot of material on my own. I cried, prayed, and kept reading until I was able to hire a mentor. I worked several hours of overtime to support my children, support my education, and be a mother.
We’ve been impressed with MEA Consulting Group4, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I opened my business officially on 10/17/2017, starting with credit repair. We specialize in business setup, business development, business strategies, consumer and business credit, grant writing, resume building, business plans with financial projections as well as capital requests. We also design shirts and anything else we can get our hands on utilizing vinyl at this time as well at DTF. We also have a virtual assistance business as well as a freight dispatch service. We do taxes as well. I work closely with each client. I get familiar with them and always make myself available to every client. My clients can contact me personally and ask questions and know that I won’t hold back in providing the answers that will benefit them. I don’t hold anything back. I teach as I am preparing what is needed. I become personal and ask about family and teach them budgeting and other tips and tricks they can utilize that I’ve learned over the years. I provide the entire plate with the desserts, drinks, and 2nd and 3rds if they want them. I am proud that I was able to see past my teen pregnancy and serve others through the things I enjoy doing. We are a one-stop shop. We cater and personalize each job we do. We are servants of God, and our job is to walk in his love and serve others. We assist them as they are out own family members and provide valuable recommendations and life skills in assisting in making them the best they can be. An excuse is for everyone, but it’s up to them to be great.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
None; everything I have accomplished was by the grace of GOD. I’m nothing without him. He works through me to serve others and provide for his people.
