Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Hone.
Hi Natalie , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Natalie Hone and Dr. Camila Antia first met during their dermatology residency at the University of Cincinnati. Early on, they discovered a shared vision: to one day create a practice known for exceptional, patient-centered dermatology care.
Years later, after Dr. Hone relocated to Texas with her family, the idea began to take shape in a new way. Both physicians wanted to merge the best of medical and cosmetic dermatology into a practice where patients could receive comprehensive, evidence-based treatments under the direct care and supervision of board-certified dermatologists.
In December 2023, they officially joined forces to open The Skin People Dermatology. As a women-owned practice, their mission extends beyond medical excellence, they are building a community where patients feel genuinely cared for and confident in their results.
Their philosophy is expressed in their guiding phrase: “Real dermatologists. Real treatments. Real results.” It reflects their commitment to authenticity, safety, and quality in every aspect of patient care.
Today, The Skin People represents years of training, collaboration, and passion, and continues to grow as a place where medical expertise and a true dedication to patient well-being come together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many physicians, our training in medical school and residency focused almost entirely on becoming the best doctors we could be mastering patient care, clinical knowledge, and the art of helping people. What it didn’t prepare us for was the world of business ownership.
One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced has been learning how to run a practice as entrepreneurs. That’s meant figuring out how to reach our patients in the most effective ways, how to navigate the complexities of business operations, and how to balance the administrative side with our passion for delivering excellent care.
Being two female physician–owners also brings its own hurdles, but it’s something we embrace. We want our clinic to be a model of what women leaders in medicine can build where every detail is held to a high standard and patients feel genuinely cared for.
At the same time, we’re also moms of young children, so another challenge is balancing the demands of running a growing practice with raising families. But in many ways, that fuels us. We want to set an example for our kids and our community that women can be physicians, business owners, and leaders, and still provide compassionate, high-quality care.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Skin People Dermatology is a women-owned clinic in Houston led by board-certified dermatologists Dr. Natalie Hone and Dr. Camila Antia. We provide comprehensive dermatologic care that spans both medical and cosmetic services, always with the highest level of physician oversight.
What sets us apart is our philosophy: “Real dermatologists. Real treatments. Real results.” Every treatment we offer—whether it’s for acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer screenings, or cosmetic procedures like injectables, lasers, and skin rejuvenation is backed by medical expertise and delivered with a personalized, patient-first approach.
We’re proud to be known for creating a space where patients feel listened to, cared for, and never rushed. Our brand is rooted in authenticity: no gimmicks, no shortcuts just proven treatments and honest guidance from dermatologists you can trust.
Beyond the clinic, we are committed to building community. We see ourselves as partners in our patients’ skin health journeys, and we love educating and empowering people to feel confident in their skin.
What we are most proud of, brand-wise, is that The Skin People isn’t just a dermatology practice, it’s a place where patients know they are getting the best of both worlds: advanced medical care and innovative cosmetic treatments, always with integrity and compassion at the center.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
For us, mentorship and networking have been invaluable parts of our journey. We’ve found that dermatology as a specialty is very collaborative many physician-owners are generous in sharing their experiences and advice because they genuinely want their colleagues to succeed. Reaching out to other dermatologists who have walked this path before us has been one of the best ways to learn and grow.
Beyond medicine, we’ve also leaned on entrepreneurs in our own community. The local business community has been incredibly welcoming, and we’ve learned so much from listening to people outside of healthcare who have built successful organizations.
Our advice would be: don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and build genuine relationships. Mentors often come from unexpected places, and having a mix of voices, from inside your specialty and from the broader community, can give you the perspective you need to grow both personally and professionally.
