Exploring Life & Business with Robert Ezzell of Team Osiris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Ezzell.

Hi Robert, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Team Osiris was a martial art school that my girlfriend & I started in only 6 weeks time. We both taught at a previous martial arts school for several years. Together we taught the kids jiu jitsu classes and I taught the adult jiu jitsu classes for over three years. In September 2021, we were informed by U.S. Marshalls that one of the gym owners was an unregistered sex offender and was living in hiding under an alias. We helped the U.S, Marshalls identify the gym owner and also help build a case against him by proving he was working there without registering as a sex offender. He was arrested about a week from when we first found out the news. My girlfriend & I informed our students of what had happened with the gym & the owner. We also made sure to spread the word to the whole community to make sure this gym & the owners would be held accountable. Once the word was out, we told our students that we would open our own gym and continue to coach the team. Only 6 weeks after the arrest we opened the doors to our own school.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As any new business, there are always bumps in the road and unexpected hurdles. However we have great members that support our school to help it grow & succeed,

We’ve been impressed with Team Osiris, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Team Osiris is a martial arts school that offers jiu jitsu and striking programs, Through these programs, our students learn how to defend themselves, build confidence, and also learn self-discipline. What sets us apart from others is the compassion we have and the passion to change people’s lives through training in martial arts.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe good luck is a product of preparation & hard work. When you consistently do your best each day and work at building your business you will catch some lucky breaks. People from an outside perspective may say it’s only luck. However, they do not see all the hard work & preparation it took to put yourself in the right position to get lucky.
