Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn.
Hi Robyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Why I Created Luna Skin
By Robyn Luna, Founder of Luna Skin
I’ve always known I was going to run my own business one day. From a young age, I found myself torn between two worlds: art and science. I loved creating, whether it was through music, sketching, or design but I also felt an undeniable pull toward helping people. In high school, I bounced between pursuing a music degree and a pre-med path. I even earned a music scholarship, but ultimately chose pre-med, convinced I was going to become a doctor.
Still, something didn’t feel quite right. I craved a more holistic and lifestyle-centered way of supporting others. At one point, I told my family I wanted to become a personal trainer to help people feel strong, healthy, and confident in their own bodies… not just treat them once they were sick. But my family was adamant that it would be a mistake, so I shifted again and enrolled in nursing school.
I’ll be honest: I hated nursing school. But I loved taking care of patients. That part of the experience stuck with me. Even though I was at the bedside, I still felt something was missing, like a disconnect between what I was doing and the deeper impact I wanted to make.
Everything changed when I was nearing the end of nursing school and scheduled a consultation at a plastic surgery office. During the appointment, the surgeon introduced me to his nurse injector. That moment stopped me in my tracks. I had no idea that nurses could work in aesthetics and from that point forward, I was completely hooked. I saved every extra penny I could, signed up for injector trainings, and spent days shadowing professionals in the field.
As I entered the aesthetic space, I began to notice something that didn’t sit right with me: it was often treated more like a salon than a medical practice. In my mind, I was already envisioning Luna Skin, a place that would redefine what a med spa could be. My goal wasn’t just to offer injectables or skin treatments. I wanted to create a space where medicine and luxury coexist. A space where patients feel heard, educated, and empowered.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I love this question. Building Luna Skin has been one of the hardest tasks I’ve ever given myself. I’ve made so many mistakes: bad investments, not watching my ROI’s or avoiding paying attention to numbers, jumping into a decision before really thinking it through, or not having a plan B in case something didn’t work out. The thing is that I’ve worn all the hats. I’m not only the CEO but I’m also the marketing manager, the social media manager, I track and order the inventory, I keep our compliance up to date, I make sure all of the bills are paid and payroll is ran AND I still have to be at the top of my game as a provider. It’s a lot for one person to manage but it comes with the territory. I think it’s important that I have eyes on everything in my company so I’m aware of the health status of the company.
In fact, I’m pretty confident that the amount of mistakes I’ve made would make me a great MedSpa consultant at this point. Maybe that will be in my future!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When people ask me what sets Luna Skin apart, it’s hard to answer without sounding like every other med spa. Yes, we assess the whole face. Yes, we focus on skin health. Yes, we prioritize facial harmony and collagen stimulation. But beyond that, what truly makes us different is our unwavering commitment to listening. We don’t offer an overwhelming menu of services because I believe if you try to do everything, you excel at nothing. We specialize in skin health and natural, full-face balancing with Botox and fillers and we do it exceptionally well.
Our patients trust us because we’re transparent and honest about what’s realistic. We don’t sell false hope or overpromise results. We’ve built a reputation for integrity, which is why we now have a waitlist.
Luna Skin wasn’t just a business I built, it’s the culmination of my journey. From doubting my path to discovering the perfect blend of science, art, and service, this practice is my way of giving people the confidence to look and feel their best not just on the outside, but from within.
What I want our patients to see with Luna Skin is that we are a luxury brand that emphasizes luxury medical aesthetics. Our brand speaks to a modern, minimalist style which is cohesive with our practice values
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The aesthetic industry is evolving rapidly, and I believe we’re just at the beginning of a major shift which is one that moves away from overly curated, filtered standards of beauty and toward a more individualized, education-forward, and medically anchored approach to care.
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I see the demand for natural-looking results continuing to rise. Patients are becoming more informed and are seeking providers who prioritize facial preservation over transformation. The “less is more” mindset is here to stay and it’s pushing injectors to become more skilled in subtlety, anatomy, and long-term planning rather than just trend-chasing.
Another major shift I anticipate is a greater focus on preventative care. We’re already seeing younger patients investing in skin health and early botox treatments. That trend will continue, but with a stronger emphasis on education, transparency, and safety… especially as the industry becomes more saturated.
With that, I believe regulation and standards will tighten. As aesthetics grows in popularity, there will likely be stronger efforts to create clearer guidelines around training, scope of practice, and patient safety which is a good thing. I have taken action to work within the political space to protect the rights of midlevel providers who own their own practices but to also stand as a voice for the need for better laws. It elevates the profession and protects the patient rather than allowing this specialty to be treated as if it’s a salon-style environment.
Technology will also play a larger role from AI-assisted facial mapping to data-driven treatment planning, but what will continue to set practices apart is the human element: empathy, communication, and the ability to connect with patients on a personal level.
At Luna Skin, we’re not just preparing for these changes, we’re leading them. By focusing on education, honest consultations, and a refined, medically guided treatment philosophy, we’re building a practice that’s future-ready while staying rooted in patient-centered care.
