Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodolfo Martinez
Hi Rodolfo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I first started the shop, there were six people sharing one space over a several years. Everyone started to grow up and one by one they started their own adventure. Soon, the shop that was once used for fun, slowy transitioned into a buinesss that I have been growing over the last few years. At the beginning, it was mainly to house my own vehicles and to be able to tinker in the evenings. Over the years though, as shop mates departed, I continued adding tools and machinery until Covid happened. I was working on luxury and exotic vehicles at the time. With Covid on the rise, the luxury and exotic car market exploded, and all the cars left out of the dealerships were what I had been working on. Eventually, I found myself with a dream. A dream of being able to run my own performance automotive shop. And since 2020, I have been working everyday to find and achieve my goal of being able to build and work on some of the coolest cars on the planet.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were many struggles. Sometimes there was a lack of work, the continuous learning curve of paperwork, scheduling people appropriately, etc. There were days I would stand here just waiting on customers to show up.
I think the hardest part no one seems to talks about is taking on new employees and delegating some of the everyday tasks to them as opposed to doing it myself. Currently I have 3 guys on my team and we are blessed with work everyday.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are pretty small and diverse in what we have going on here at the shop. Their are alot of passion projects where we keep the best cars of the 90s running and driving. Not only do we modify them and also do our best to keep the time period correct. We also pivot into chassis & suspension setup. Alot of out clients have fast cars that need to be able to plant the power down as quick as possible, knowing what a vehicle needs and how to put it together properly takes alot of time and patience. What we are best know for is building drift cars cars that go sideways. Vehicles that have an enormous amount of angle and and even more insane amount of smoke, Something that im proud of is my abilitly not only to modify a car extensivly but to able to hand back a reliable and functional vehicle to my customers.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I think people would be suprised all though I talk to alot of people in a day, im not really a people person. I have an online personality but I prefer silence and just enjoy the process of getting the job done, but I do take the time to talk with every single person that comes through the my shop.
