Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Fremuth.
Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
While finishing college, I was working in the casino industry in Pennsylvania. During that time, I was in charge of the graveyard shift security. Running the security shift meant handling medical emergencies and criminal events as well as minor disturbances. I investigated a plethora of crimes prior to police arrival, interrogated suspects, and performed all initial investigative duties. One of my jobs was to testify in court.
Court time was fascinating to me. I loved testifying and watching the court proceedings. Eventually, I decided to attend law school with the goal to become a prosecutor. Washington and Lee University accepted me into their law program and I graduated in 2017, passing the bar shortly thereafter.
I started my legal career as a prosecutor with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. There, I worked my way from misdemeanor prosecutor to juvenile and felony prosecutor. Initially, I handled cases such as DWI, family violence, and resisting arrest. As time progressed, I prosecuted sex crimes, robberies, drug charges, and murders.
Eventually, I felt a calling to become a defense attorney. Society needs zealous, effective, and determined defense attorneys. Attorneys like that ensure the Constitutional protections we all enjoy are safeguarded. Not everyone accused is guilty. Not everyone accused is a bad person. Not every case was investigated properly or handled well.
I started my defense attorney journey at Dunham and Jones’ Houston office. Rapidly, I became one of the offices most trusted attorneys. I was given the most serious cases to defend and was constantly in trial, almost always being successful. During that time, I assisted mentoring the younger attorneys that worked with me.
After honing my defense attorney skills, I eventually decided to start my own firm. Now I represent clients in Harris, Galveston, Fort Bend, and Brazoria counties. Having just completed my second year of managing the Fremuth Law Firm, I am grateful to my clients for trusting me with their lives, the Courts for having faith in my abilities, and my former employers for the opportunities they granted me.
My current caseload is primarily felonies. Having been assessed capable of handling first degree felonies, such as murder, by the Harris County Judges, I proudly defend anyone accused of criminal misconduct. Your story matters. Whether you are innocent, there is an explanation for what happened, or simply the State of Texas can’t prove the case, I will stand by you and fight for your rights and freedom.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t always an easy road. COVID interrupted court substantially and complicated case management. During that time, there were no trials, so I decided to obtain my master’s degree in forensic psychology from Arizona State University. Handling what was at the time a caseload of 120 felony clients at Dunham and Jones, while spending my nights handling my schoolwork was no easy task.
When I first started the Fremuth Law Firm, there was massive risk. Initially, I had one client and was hoping that my successes and reputation would allow me to succeed. It was a difficult beginning, but I had planned for the starting period and managed to grow. Bret Kisluk, a very successful and established attorney, was a huge help in guiding me through the starting process. With his insight and advice, I was able to rapidly grow Fremuth Law Firm.
