Exploring Life & Business with Sarah Ganann of CDS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Ganann.

Sarah Ganann

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
From stay-at-home Mom to Entrepreneur. Working my way from assistant to learning accounting which led me to work for an architect and then fell into an opportunity to restructure a development firm.

Making moves & learning all I could in each position held allowed me to consistently do more and eventually begin CDS. In the midst of the restructure, I realized that I was in love with the intricate process, all the team members involved & the need to think on your feet & find solutions as each project moved along. As operations began to stream like a well-oiled machine with the development firm, I decided it was time to start CDS & pursue this newfound passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been and will always be challenges & obstacles to overcome; it’s the way we look at these challenges that can define how we get through them. These obstacles are opportunities for growth and can force you to look for a new & better path. Part of being a business owner is realizing when & accepting the fact that sometimes you need to pivot from your original plan. A lot of times it looks even better than you could’ve imagined in the first place!

Something I have found helpful is finding a community for support, perspective & inspiration. I found this community through the Women’s Council for Entrepreneurs, where I Co-Lead the Heights/River Oaks chapter. We have a mastermind topic that each of us will give perspective on in each of our meetings. If you have a challenge with your business on that topic, you can also ask for advice on your specific obstacle and get perspective from about 20 other business owners!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What started as a plan to pursue development pivoted into a Boutique Commercial Real Estate Brokerage through some of the challenges faced in 2020. CDS provides third-party leasing & sales of commercial properties, whether it’s Retail Space, Office, Warehouse/Industrial, or Land for development. CDS also offers Property Management services which is perfect for investors who would like to diversify their investments and add commercial real estate to their investment portfolio to allow for passive income.

From my clients’ perspective, I get great feedback on communication and explaining the process of leasing or purchasing commercial space & truly putting the clients’ needs first.  I love to think  creatively and with the added experience being a part of the development of over $100 Million in projects from purchasing land & due diligence, working through title & loan closing, staying involved on construction calls during development on through to either the sale of that property or property management if the development was held in the portfolio, I have been afforded many situations to hone in on many variables that can come up in getting a deal done in the best way!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I’ve been seeing quotes about remembering what you loved as a child & doing more of that as an adult. As a kid, I loved backpacking in the mountains of Washington State with my family, checking out national parks, spending time in nature & admiring all of God’s beauty. Taking the time to slow down & disconnect keeps me grounded and ready to serve my clients & community.
