Hi Sherley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved cooking — to me, it’s both an art form and my happy place. Baking didn’t come naturally at first, but over time I fell in love with experimenting in the kitchen, and my family and friends became my biggest taste-testers and supporters.

I’ve always had a huge sweet tooth, but after having my second son, I experienced some health concerns that pushed me to make major changes to my eating habits. The one thing I couldn’t imagine giving up was dessert. So I started experimenting with healthier ingredients and eventually created a line of gluten-free desserts made without refined sugars.

What started as a personal mission to ‘have my cake and eat it too’ quickly grew into the vision behind Wholesome Cravings; creating desserts that feel indulgent and comforting while still being made with more mindful ingredients. We wanted to prove that healthier desserts can still taste delicious.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building Wholesome Cravings from the ground up while balancing motherhood and a full-time career has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Most of my weeks are completely consumed by the business, and many of my orders are fulfilled either in the early mornings before the school-day routine begins or late at night once everyone is finally asleep. There have been long days, little sleep, and plenty of moments where I questioned how I would manage it all, but my passion for creating and the vision behind this brand continue to push me forward. At the heart of it all is my family, and knowing that I’m building something meaningful for them makes every sacrifice worth it. It’s a lot of work, but I truly wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wholesome Cravings was created with the belief that healthier desserts should never feel like a compromise. We specialize in gluten-free desserts made without refined sugars, while still delivering the rich, comforting flavors people crave. Our focus is creating treats that feel indulgent, homemade, and satisfying, using more mindful ingredients that align with a healthier lifestyle.

What sets us apart is that every recipe was born from personal experience and countless hours of experimenting in my own kitchen. This brand wasn’t created from trends — it was created from a genuine desire to enjoy desserts in a way that felt better for myself and my family. Because of that, every product is crafted with intention, warmth, and attention to flavor first.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the community and trust we’ve been able to build in such a short time. Customers often tell us they’re surprised that something gluten-free and made without refined sugars can taste this good, and that reaction never gets old! I want readers to know that Wholesome Cravings is about more than desserts — it’s about creating moments of comfort, joy, and balance. We believe you can enjoy the things you love while still being mindful about what goes into your body, and that philosophy is at the heart of everything we create.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would definitely consider myself a calculated risk taker. When it comes to building my business, I believe in failing fast so I can learn quickly. Not every idea, flavor, product, or strategy is going to work, and I’ve learned not to be afraid of that. Instead of spending too much time trying to perfect everything before taking action, I prefer to test, learn, adjust, and focus my energy on what truly resonates with customers. That mindset has helped me grow faster, stay creative, and remain adaptable as a business owner.
