Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Lawson.
Hi Sierra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started digitally designing posters and social media posts in 2014. After receiving a few projects from family and friends, I decided to take on more aspects of the digital world and learn as much as possible about digital marketing. Since then, I’ve worked with large franchises and small businesses.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a challenging road, to say the least. Being part of anything that’s within the tech world, digital or otherwise is hard. Everything moves, develops and changes rapidly. Once you’ve honed a skill, there’s a new update or new software to learn. The industry is constantly changing so you have to constantly learn otherwise you’ll fail.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sienic (scenic) Designs and marketing is my digital marketing agency. I specialize in small businesses and even more so gyms/fitness. At Sienic, we create; websites, social media content, digital and 3D logos, content management, digital and print mediums as well as ad design and management.
I believe what sets us apart is our personability and knowledge of the industry. Each week, I sit in on 3-10 seminars to learn more about things like SEO. I want to know when software is changing, what policies Google is updating, and be as knowledgeable as possible.
As a brand, I’m most proud of the community of clients I’ve had the opportunity to work with. It feels great to work with big names like Google and Apple, but to see a small business owner grow and live out their dreams…that’s what makes waking up at 2am because you had this dream about an awesome ad idea or missing a night out with friends to finish a logo worth every second.
Sienic Designs is a full-service marketing firm that specializes in small businesses.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I have two pieces of advice, I wish I would have learned sooner.
1. Plan for the future, set goals, come up with a 30, 60, and 90-day goals, and come up with your 2,5,10 year plan. Be prepared but also be humble enough to build daily. Take the classes. Watch the videos, and ask others in your industry what they’re doing.
2. Whether you’re working for yourself or someone else, don’t attach yourself to their plan, to their company or to them. Attach yourself to a mission, and attach others to that mission.
It’s been my experience that once you do this, especially once you detach from everything(one) and to a mission instead. Your support corner grows, your opportunities open, and your net worth builds. I’m not just talking financially.
