Today we’d like to introduce you to Silvia Ramirez
Hi Silvia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Skincare and beauty are things that have always been a part of me. It’s definitely one of my love languages. As a teenager, I’d do facials, makeup, hair and nails on my friends. Making others feel beautiful felt so special to me. It is something that brings me inner peace and happiness. I loved to share that with others.
I struggled with acne during my teenage years and it absolutely destroyed my confidence. I would try to conceal and hide my acne but nothing ever worked or satisfied me enough. I wished it would just disappear. I researched day and night to find a solution. That’s when I discovered different methods and products that would allow for me to solve my problem. With time and the right products, my acne completely disappeared. I regained the confidence I lost and was so incredibly happy with my skin. With my knowledge I knew that I could help others seeking out the same kind of information and advice. That’s when I realized I wanted to become an esthetician.
I enrolled in an esthetician program and began school in August of 2023. I loved every minute of esthetician school. My passion grew stronger and it became more than just a hobby. I wanted to take this seriously and make a career out of this.
I knew that coming into this wasn’t easy. The beauty community can get competitive and you’d have to put your best foot forward to make it into this field of work. I was willing to put all of my time and energy into it, so I did. I saved up thousands of dollars and purchased everything I needed for my beauty room. I had a spare room in my house and made it into my beauty sanctuary while I was in esthetician school. I’d have my friends from school and work come over and practice on them. Little by little, I had the experience and materials I needed to start servicing clients. This was my goal as I wanted to start working as soon as I graduated and received my license.
I graduated and received my esthetician license in May of 2024. I was very excited for this new journey I was going to begin. I wasn’t expecting to go solo right away but I also did not want to work for someone or waste my time. I knew I wanted to be my own boss from the moment I received my license. Entrepreneurship runs in the family and I’m thankful for the support I received from my father. My father runs a very successful landscaping business and I strive to be just like him. He was my motivation to not give up on my dream.
In June of 2024, I looked everywhere for a suite and stumbled upon the perfect one. I signed the lease, renovated to my liking and patiently waited to begin my journey in August. I was so excited for what was to come. Ever since I moved in, I have quickly built up a clientele of beautiful and loyal clients. I am thankful that my hard work paid off and so happy that I get to do what I love. What’s better than making others feel confident in their own skin?
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting up was difficult and at times I doubted myself. Could I build clientele in a short period of time? Were clients going to be satisfied with my services? I often wondered if things would work out. I went into this knowing I had zero clients and very little experience. I started from nothing. I knew I had to take the risk and lose a lot to gain more in the future. It was all completely worth it.
Day by day, things get easier and I learn something new. This is a line of work in where you never stop learning. You must keep up with new information, products, techniques and trends to build and keep a successful business. You must face turmoil before you can succeed in the business world. Growth within yourself and your business is one of the most difficult things to accomplish as a young entrepreneur but it is very rewarding once you are where you always dreamed of being. Faith has kept me strong thus far and it continues to pave the way for success and growth within myself and my career.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Being passionate about the beauty industry has motivated me and kept me going when things became tough. I learned to juggle all that has to be done for my business with purpose. I reflected and visualized all that I wanted to be done for my business and what will become of it. Being grateful for the blessings I have received and acknowledging God’s part in my achievement was key.
It’s a mindset that concentrates on the positive aspects of success and can inspire a sense of fulfillment and drive to keep improving. It involves actively acknowledging and appreciating my accomplishments, acknowledging the effort and support that went into them, and taking the time to feel good about what I’ve accomplished.
