Today we’d like to introduce you to Sohail Nibras.
Hi Sohail, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a child/adolescent and adult psychiatrist with double-board certification. I have completed my graduation from Saint Louis University. I am an assistant professor at Baylor and an attending psychiatrist at Texas Children’s Hospital. I’ve practiced in several states, but when I moved to Houston, I knew I wanted to create a comfortable and personalized psychiatric practice for my clients. Individuals seeking psychiatric services would be more comfortable working with professionals who understand their unique backgrounds, language, and customs. I’ve worked with clients facing a wide range of psychological challenges. I practice a more personalized & holistically driven approach to patient care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve faced my fair share of obstacles, just like everyone else. Being an immigrant to a new country has presented some unexpected challenges, but it’s helped me grow both personally and professionally. One of my biggest challenges has been staying positive while adjusting to a new place. Balancing work and school for all those years wasn’t easy, but it taught me how to be independent. I have worked numerous odd jobs while pursuing my education, had experienced living alone, and subsequently embraced the dynamics of raising a family. And now, as a specialist in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, I can connect with people from all walks of life. These experiences have molded me into the compassionate and culturally sensitive professional I am today.
We’ve been impressed with Novus Beginning Psychiatry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At our clinic, we pride ourselves on treating our clients with a personalized approach sensitive to a client’s needs and the culture they come from. From age 3 to age 60, we treat clients like family. We offer a thoughtful blend of therapy and medication recommendations to help clients feel better and improve their well-being. That’s why we offer flexible evening and weekend hours. And while we do operate on a self-pay basis, we’re committed to making it affordable for everyone. We have a sliding scale fee structure to ensure anyone needing our help can get it. We’re here to support clients and make sure they feel confident as they walk through their brain health challenges.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
For me, happiness is all about witnessing amazing transformations during therapy sessions. It’s an incredible honor when my clients trust me enough to share their deepest secrets. The true joy comes when I see the gradual changes in their faces over time – the smiles that appear. It’s a beautiful thing to see, knowing that they’re finally finding some relief from the emotional weight they’ve been carrying. Watching their burdens lift and seeing them move toward healing fills my heart with pure happiness.
