Exploring Life & Business with Taisiya Oliphant of Reliable Books LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taisiya Oliphant.

Hi Taisiya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I came from Kazakhstan in 2006 to study business in North Carolina. Married an American soldier, got my CPA license, and moved to Houston in 2013. Every time we had a child, I would open a business. First, it was a home bakery (keto baked goods). It existed for 4.5 years. When we had our second boy in 2018, I opened a bookkeeping business, which is still thriving. Then we had our baby girl in 2022, and I started on a path to become a certified life coach. Right now I run my bookkeeping business, sell life insurance, coach women 1:1 and in groups in business and in weight loss without diets and gym. My newest endeavor is a non-profit organization that will be helping foster families in Houston.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main struggle is learning how to delegate and trust that my employees will treat my business like their own 🙂 I do work with my sister in my bookkeeping company and am looking now for help in the nonprofit sector.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am proud of the trusted and warm relationships that I have built with my bookkeeping clients. Finances are very personal, and I am honored to handle them for my customers. I take bookkeeping off their to do lists, so the business owners can focus on living out their visions. Many self-employed people forget to pay themselves first, and I help them not only with keeping their books in order, but also with building their personal financial houses through protecting their income via life insurance, setting up their savings and investments accounts correctly for retirement.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how multi-cultural Houston is and am also proud of our restaurant scene. It is a good city to both work and raise the family. I love how convenient it is to fly anywhere in the world, as I travel a lot through my life coaching business.

I don’t particularly enjoy traffic, but with working from home, I am able to drive at good times of the day.
