Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Victoria Pittman, a Dating and Relationship Coach, and my journey to where I am today began with a deep-seated desire to find my purpose.
Feeling stuck in Corporate America, I prayed for a way out early in my career. The response I received was unexpected yet profound: stay where you are, learn from the experience, and trust that the second part of your life will be on your own platform. So, I endured, using the time to explore my passions and interests. One of those experiments led me to coaching, which resonated deeply with me. A friend introduced me to coaching techniques a few years prior, and I was hooked.
When the world shut down in 2020, I saw it as an opportunity to take a leap of faith. With my sister’s encouragement, I enrolled in the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) and completed the program in just a year, despite facing challenges like Covid. The lessons I learned in corporate America prepared me for this next phase of my life.
After a particularly grueling experience, I knew it was time to leave and start my own business. It was a liberating moment – exactly 20 years after I started my corporate journey. The timing felt almost biblical, like the perfect waiting period had come to an end and it was time to start a new beginning. With the finances I’d accumulated in my career, I took a year off to build my business from the ground up.
I started by seeking clarity on my message and purpose. Through prayer, fasting, and reflection, I discovered that my mission is to help women break free from inner blocks that hold them back from reaching their full potential. I got clear that I wanted women to know that they can have both success in life and success in their love life. This landed me in creating a niche in being a Dating and Relationship Coach who focuses on transformation, self-discovery, and building healthy romantic relationships.
From there, I trusted that every good thing would flow from doing what I was created to do. It’s been an adventure filled with ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Today, I’m living my purpose, and it’s a dream come true. I’m grateful for the journey, the lessons, and the people who’ve supported me along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship has been a thrilling adventure, filled with moments of wonder and excitement. I’ve been blessed with opportunities that have opened doors I never thought possible. Building a network and paying for services that support my growth has been key. Working with a business coach who’s a speaker, author, and all the things I aspire to be has been invaluable. Her guidance has helped me navigate the ups and downs of building my business.
Of course, it’s not all been smooth sailing. There have been times when I’ve felt uncertain and unsure of what to do. But I’ve learned to trust my instincts and follow my heart, even when the path ahead isn’t clear. As a coach specializing in dating and relationships, I’ve encountered some unique challenges. Some potential clients have been triggered or resistant to the idea of coaching, while others have been excited to work with me.
I’ve faced challenges like doubters and skeptics, including a particularly memorable experience where a potential client thought I was sending her a hoax message on LinkedIn. It was a tough moment, but it taught me a lot about resilience and staying focused on my mission. Another challenge I’ve faced is the seasonality of coaching clients. Some months are busy, while others are slow. I learned this the hard way and had to find ways to supplement my income.
To adapt, I picked up freelance coaching jobs and even became a resident singles event host for a popular dating app. While it was an emotional rollercoaster at times, those experiences have helped me develop new skills, understand my clients better, and refine my techniques. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade those lessons for the world. They’ve taught me how to structure my business to flow with my clients’ behavior and how to stay adaptable in a changing landscape.
It’s been a wild ride, but I’m grateful for the journey and the growth it’s brought me. I’m proud of the person I’ve become and the business I’ve built, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
