Exploring Life & Business with Victoria Treadway of The Piano Truck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Treadway.

Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Piano Truck was an idea my sister, Natalie, and I had about 5 years ago. We were driving through Houston and saw a glass-walled truck, We thought it would be an awesome piano studio.

Our family had owned two brick and mortar studios called, “The Music Connection” for 12+ years. We planned on the Piano Truck being the next phase of our business. When the covid lockdowns hit our brick and mortars had to close and we decided to become focused primarily on opening our mobile studio.

We are very passionate about teaching creatively and innovating the way people learn piano. We always wanted to make it more convenient for our students. We like to explain The Piano Truck as the best of both worlds: the setting of a piano studio with the convenience of in-home lessons.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A big struggle we had along the way was definitely Covid. When the lockdowns started our studios went from 400 students to 100 in one week. They ended up shutting down. As we started on zoom we also decided to focus on starting The Piano Truck at that point. Since starting at the end of March 2022 we have experienced so much growth as a new business. We are very excited! We have had a very good response to our Piano Truck and we are very grateful.

We’ve been impressed with The Piano Truck, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Piano Truck is the first music school on wheels. We literally bring the piano studio to your front door. We teach children ages 2-5 in this truck. We have a second truck in the works that will be ready by fall for older children and adults. We love to think outside the box when it comes to teaching. I always say if you can learn something in a boring way you can learn the same thing in a fun way. We strive to instill a love of music in our students. And we try to inspire them to create music no matter what level they are. That’s our motto: create music.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
A found several mentors via podcast. I love listening to Terri Savelle Foy. She’s very inspiring. My personal mentor is my dad. He always has an idea to make things smoother or overcome a problem. He helps uplift us when we have bad days. He’s always supported our dreams.
