Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Milligan-Rich.
Hi Aaron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Aaron Rich, Business Consultant, Mindset Therapist, Digital Media Entrepreneur & Podcast host of “Rich Minds Think Alike”. I am a 32-year-old, 6 figure, a multifaceted entrepreneur from Houston, Texas. I started my career in photography, graphic design and social media marketing; I have since branched out into other lucrative and passive income opportunities like digital marketing, affiliate marketing, selling online courses, and digital products via Amazon.
I used my marketing background and continuous learning to help me boost my businesses from side hustles to 6 figure businesses. I got my first introduction to photography in High School when I joined the yearbook/publications team in 2005-6. I ventured off into modeling for a moment and enjoyed being in front of the camera but always had a passion for getting back behind the camera. I was inspired by fashion photographers and America’s Next Top Model and knew I wanted to be in that arena of expertise. I purchased my first camera with my high school graduation money and played around with it a bit and learned the basics, and later joined the yearbook/publications committee at Texas Southern University.
I moved to Atlanta in 2012 to further my career, but that did not go as planned. After going through hardships and losing everything, including my camera, I battled with depression which led to a creative and mental block. I strayed away from my talents and got lost in the dead-end 9-5 employee cycle. It helped me recoup my losses and purchase new photo equipment, but it hindered me from having time to create my business. I end up getting laid off from the job before I could create my exit strategy, so I immediately pulled my camera out and hit the streets looking for work.
I started off at LifeTouch, doing schools and daycare centers to sharpen my skills and generate some income. I began to get parents and teachers asking me to do prom, graduation, birthday parties. You name it! I was booked up weekly before I even had a business name or website. This spark of clientele was the start of my business LustrePRO Studios, I was confident that this is what I was going to do for a living with faith, a supportive partner & some trial and error I tweaked things as I grew and made this business my main source of income over nine years.
I currently get contracted work with other businesses to help with their ad campaigns, visibility and branding, and in my free time, I offer services to help entrepreneurs boost and legitimize their brands with creative branding packages that include: headshots & portfolio photos, product photography, website building, branding kits, social media kits and more.
I also teach and offer workshops for photographers to build their businesses the right way, get set up and approved for funding, find alternatives for equipment financing, building business credit, securing clients and contracts, post-processing and photoshop classes, and someone on one hands-on workshop to learn your camera. Bringing all my talents and expertise together under one creative umbrella and helping others while doing what I love!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a bumpy road, but I overcame a lot of obstacles that have made me the strong person I am today. From financial struggles to client struggles, I have learned from lessons to ensure I won’t have those poor experiences again.
