Hi Ana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are called Real Estate with An Energy Twist for a reason. Life can give you unexpected surprises, but that’s when it’s most important for you to turn lemons into a delicious lemonade. This is exactly how we define our real estate journey.
Born and raised in Mexico, I always dreamed of excelling in the big leagues of engineering and traveling around the world. I worked hard to achieve my dreams by being the Top student (Summa Cum Laude) in my Engineering school, as well as being recognized as one of the top students in my country. I was pursuing a master’s degree in the best university in Mexico, the Tecnologico de Monterrey, when Schlumberger, a recognized worldwide oil & gas service company, hired me to work in South America as a wireline Field Engineer. Seventeen years and many countries later, I ended up in Houston, TX, leading the Logging While Drilling measurements in one of the most important geomarkets for offshore drilling.
Everything sounds wonderful, right? This is when everything changed. Around 2015 the Oil & Gas downturn hit, and thousands of people lost their jobs. I was one of them in May 2016! But as a good risk analyst that I’m, I already had a plan B. I had already been working on real estate investments, an interest that started ten years earlier in 2006. Why not take advantage of this unexpected push and jump in to start my business as a full-time realtor? My family thought I was crazy. Leaving my comfort zone & my engineering career to start from zero was going to be very interesting indeed!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Replacing tools with real properties was actually not that hard. I had been a client advisor for almost two decades around the world and an avid real estate investor for the last ten years. Looking in retrospect, my biggest struggle was my mindset about my own worth. The moment I embraced my abilities & value proposition, as well as the impact that I make not only in the real estate scene but in my local community, everything changed.
I cannot be prouder of being a Mexican dreamer succeeding in the real estate scene in Houston & Surrounding Area as Peternell Property Group, your best partner in Real Estate. The fact that we are fluent bilingual agents (Spanish and English) is an added advantage. And yes, I do have an accent which makes me uniquely me! We serve everybody, including relocation and international clients as well.
Two years ago, I was lucky that my partner in life became my partner in business. Jesus and I complement beautifully in the different responsibilities of the team! Our clients call us “Realtor Engineers” or “Real Estate with an Energy Twist” due our engineering background and detailed-oriented approach. We cannot be more excited about getting to meet new people and helping our clients & community in and out of real estate.

Who is Jesus? He is the Director of Investments/Development & “the seeker.” He is extremely organized, methodical, and patient, which makes him perfect to look for properties for our buyers, especially the investors or commercial clients. He leads our prospecting efforts, which means sending a week hundreds of emails looking for buyers for our listings or homes for our buyers. This is done by just a few agents/teams consistently, and we are one of them!
Who is Maica? She is our executive admin, who is a force to be reckoned with. We just knew she was the right fit to our team, and she has quickly become our right hand. She is in charge of executing the prospecting & social media campaigns, as well as editing our videos & in charge of social media presence.
Moreover, we also are supported by other partners in our business like: lenders, inspectors, builders, handymen, roofers, contractors, surveyors, title companies, architects, lawyers, etc.

We do work in all Houston & Surrounding Areas. We know pretty well areas like Katy, Fulshear, Sugar Land, Richmond, Brookshire, Lake Conroe, Conroe, The Woodlands, Spring, Cypress, Missouri City, Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake, Galveston, Energy Corridor, Memorial, Mission Bend, The Heights, River Oaks, EADO, Rice Military, Montrose, Midtown, South Houston, Pasadena, and everything in between!
