Hidden Gems: Meet Angel Flowers of The Elote Girl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Flowers.

Hi Angel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started when I lost my job at mister car wash , used my last check when to Home Depot and spend it all on material to build a box out of plywood to go sell corn. I started my hunt to find a spot to set up ,I went on a Saturday morning set up and I was nervous , scared wondering will I be able to make this work ! I’ve never sold elote or just worked for my self in general but I went my mind was set on making at least 60$ but inside I was happy with whatever I had made ! I stood on the side of federal with a corn on the stick to show off what I was selling since I didn’t have enough money to buy expensive signs . I hand painted some on plywood but I know if I show people what I have it would hopefully catch their attention. Day 1 was GREAT I knew I was going to back ! Months past and slowly I grew I started seeing retuning clients, new faces , people asked if I was going be here every weekend and than I knew THIS WAS IT .

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been tough ! I was only weekends since I didn’t have a food trailer . I worked so hard saved every dollar I could I finally invested into a pushcart after month of trying to get it inspected and passed for inspection I failed and failed I decided well I will just continue the way I am right now . 2 years passed on the property I was renting from one day a lady came said she was new management and I had to get off property ,I was 39 weeks pregnant I felt like everything was crashing down on me . I had to quickly find a new location, move my customers & welcome a newborn within 2 weeks . I moved location lost a lot of customers had my baby and still worked in heat advisory weather I had no other option this was my main income and I couldn’t give up and go work for a company , I gave my self a couple of month to get this together if not I was going to quit . May 2025 came around the city came and shut me down twice . I felt like I was a couple steps away from buying a food trailer but I was saving and saving once the city came I felt like this was over that’s it we are done with this era BUT GOD SAID NOT JUST YET ! The city came and pushed me to go out there and find a food trailer with the money I had saved it was time for the NEXT ERA !

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
