Today we’d like to introduce you to Ash Tadghighi.
Hi Ash, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in England and moved to Arizona when I was 2. I grew up in Arizona and loved every minute of it. I attended Arizona State University. I majored in biology thinking I was going to be a dentist. Post-graduation I released dentistry wasn’t the path for me so I took some time off and moved to Los Angeles, my first time living away from home. I had a great few years in LA but soon realized I needed to find a direction and quickly. At the time a lot of my good friends were in law school and the more I learned about being an attorney the more I found a connection to the profession. I took the LSAT in 2008 and patiently waited a year for acceptances, but in the meantime, I moved to Texas. I had some very close long time friends in Houston and fell in love with the city. When I returned to Arizona for law school, I missed Texas. Once I graduated from law school I took the Bar exam in Arizona. After a year I felt drawn back to Houston and took the Texas bar exam. I moved to Houston in 2016 and hung my own shingle. 6 years later, it’s the best decision I ever made. I have been so fortunate to work with so many great clients and colleagues. I have been blessed to even make history by being a part of the first-ever lawsuit filed in the NFT space and look forward to making history with a positive outcome for my client.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting your own business is never easy. I was fortunate to have some great contacts in Houston to get started but ultimately you need to go out there and hunt for your business. Being an attorney isn’t enough, there are so many attorneys, however, your need to capitalize on your strengths and my major strength is I truly care about people and their well-being. After my initial case loads dwindled I hit the pavement and started meeting people from all walks of life. One thing about Houston is the people are very good at picking out authenticity. I feel my greatest struggle was getting out of my comfort zone to meet people and sell my services, but it has been rewarded by the amazing people of Houston.
As you know, we’re big fans of Tadghighi Law Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My firm handles mainly Personal Injury and Business law. However, I have handled immigration and criminal law cases as well. I’m most known for my tag line “In a crash? Just call Ash!” which has helped me grow my personal injury business by more than 50% every year for the last 6 years.
I have also made national and international news (Forbes, Vice News, Bloomberg News) by filing the first-ever lawsuit against OpenSea the NFT marketplace for the theft of NFT due to the vulnerabilities in OpenSea’s code that they were aware of prior to the theft by a hacker.
I represent many businesses in Houston as their general counsel and assist them with all legal needs as well as helping them secure investments so that they can grow. I also focus on business startups and all the legal structuring necessary to start a business.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’m an only child. I grew up with 2 loving parents who encouraged me to explore everything in the world. I was lucky to travel all over the world growing up and continue to love travel to this day. I played football and basketball in high school and am an avid basketball fan. So much so I am a licensed NBA player agent. Because I was an only child and an extrovert, I was able to make many friends and am lucky to have multiple 20 year+ friendships to this day. I was lucky to be an 80s/90s kid and as a Xennial (group born between 78-84) I was able to have the wholesomeness of no internet or cell phones or social media and be the first generation to have all of those things as youths as well. I believe we are the strongest sub-generation because we can bridge the gap between the baby boomers and millennials and that has helped me immensely in my practice.
