Hidden Gems: Meet Beth Lopez of Surus Solutions Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Lopez.

Hi Beth , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Surus started in a tiny studio apartment in San Antonio, Texas, during one of the toughest chapters of my life. I was a single mom raising two little girls while working for a State Farm agent—basically living in the office from Monday to Monday. My daughters would spend all day at school and then sit in that State Farm office with me most evenings until 7 p.m. It wasn’t sustainable, and I knew something had to give.

So I made a bold move. I picked up the phone and called every State Farm agent I had ever worked with, asking if they would hire me to work from home. Three of them said yes. Suddenly, I was earning three times more than I did in the office, all while working remotely and being off by 3 p.m. My girls finally got their mom back.

Word spread fast. Other moms and grandmothers started asking how I did it, and before I knew it, I was managing and training other licensed reps. That’s how Surus was born—out of grit, hustle, and a real need for flexibility. Today, Surus has grown into a trusted, quality-driven service staffing agency for State Farm and independent agencies.

My daughters are now 15 and 17, and we still laugh and cry about those early days in San Antonio when Surus Solutions Inc. was just an idea and a whole lot of determination. Life looks different now. I’m remarried, we’ve added two more kids to the mix, and Surus has truly become both a family company and a veteran-owned company—something we’re incredibly proud of.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve been able to consistently deliver quality service, but it hasn’t always been a smooth ride—and honestly, I’m grateful for that. The challenges have shaped Surus into what it is. Training and strict quality checkpoints are non-negotiable for us, because they’re the only way to make sure every representative maintains the standard our partners deserve.

Working with agents and team members across the country brings its own set of obstacles. When an agent needs something changed or updated, they call me. When a team member needs time off or goes through a life transition, they call me too. I’m the point person for both sides—supporting my partners and my representatives at the same time.

It can be a lot, but it’s exactly what keeps Surus grounded. We might live in a big world, but staying small and hands-on is intentional. I value quality over quantity, and being personally involved is what makes Surus feel like the family-built company it is. Being there when my clients need me isn’t just part of the job—it’s the heart of it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Surus Solutions Inc . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Surus Solutions Inc. is a quality-driven staffing and training company that focuses exclusively on the insurance industry. We provide licensed, remote service and sales representatives to State Farm and independent agencies nationwide. Our specialty is matching agencies with highly trained team members who can step in confidently, support retention, improve customer experience, and help agencies grow.

What truly sets us apart is the level of hands-on involvement we maintain. We’re intentionally small. We choose quality over quantity every single time. Every representative goes through personalized training, real accountability checkpoints, and ongoing development—not just a one-time orientation. Agencies know that when they hire through Surus, they are getting someone who has been prepared, checked, coached, and supported.

We’re also proud of being family-built and veteran-owned. Surus started in a studio apartment with nothing but grit, determination, and two little girls watching their mom hustle for a better life. That spirit never left. Today, even though we serve clients across the country, Surus still feels like a homegrown operation where people aren’t numbers—they’re partners.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Surus is known for consistency, honesty, and real support. When an agent needs something, they call me directly. When a representative needs guidance, they know they can reach me. Maintaining that level of accessibility in a world that’s getting bigger and more automated is something I stand by fiercely.

For your readers, the biggest thing to know is this: Surus exists to make agency life easier. Whether it’s staffing, training, onboarding, or simply giving agents more time back in their day, we deliver support with heart, discipline, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Surus may be small, but our impact is built on excellence—every representative, every agency, every day.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you have to reach even when it feels like there’s nothing in front of you to grab. I’ve had to teach myself—and now I teach my kids—that if the opportunity you need doesn’t exist, you create it. You think beyond the box, beyond the script, beyond the usual path. And when you hear “no,” you don’t stop. You ask again, you search harder, you dig until you find your “yes.”

That mindset is the foundation of Surus. Building quality service representatives in today’s market isn’t easy. The talent pool is different, expectations are different, and the pace of business is faster than ever. But I’ve learned that with the right leadership, quality is still absolutely possible. You just have to demand it. You can’t settle. You have to hold the line, even when that means your growth takes a little longer.

What’s worth building is worth building well. And that’s the lesson I carry as a mother, a business owner, and a leader: never be afraid to stretch for something that isn’t there yet. Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you carve out yourself.
