Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon Deese of True life Tranquility

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Deese.

Hi Brandon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey has been shaped by both struggle and self-discovery. Growing up in low-income housing in New York City, I experienced firsthand what it felt like to live in an environment where survival often came before emotional well-being. Looking back now, I realize that many of us simply didn’t have the resources, guidance, or safe spaces to process the things we were dealing with on a daily basis. Stress, trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain were normalized, and conversations around healing or mindfulness were almost nonexistent.

As I got older, I started searching for something deeper. I wanted peace, clarity, and a stronger understanding of myself. That search led me into mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and spiritual growth. What began as a personal healing journey slowly transformed into purpose. I realized that healing wasn’t just about me. It was about helping others feel seen, heard, and supported too.

For over a decade, I worked as a doorman in New York City, where I interacted with people from every background imaginable. That experience taught me so much about people, energy, and human connection. No matter someone’s status or lifestyle, I noticed that so many people were quietly carrying emotional weight while trying to navigate life.

Eventually, I created True Life Tranquility, a mindfulness and wellness platform focused on helping people reconnect with themselves through meditation, self-awareness, emotional wellness, and meaningful conversations. Through content creation, speaking, community work, and storytelling, I’ve tried to create spaces where people can slow down and breathe in a world that constantly tells them to rush.

A major part of my journey has also been philanthropy and service overseas, especially my work in Kenya. Being able to work with children, schools, and communities there deeply changed my perspective on life. It reminded me how powerful human connection, support, and compassion can be. I’ve helped raise funds and awareness to support students with meals, uniforms, healthcare, and educational resources because I believe giving back is one of the purest forms of purpose.

Today, I continue building platforms that combine mindfulness, storytelling, creativity, and impact. Whether it’s through meditation programs, interviews, books, wellness conversations, or humanitarian work, my mission remains the same: to help people understand that even through pain, struggle, or uncertainty, healing and transformation are possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many people, a lot of my journey has involved trying to heal while still navigating everyday life responsibilities and challenges in real time.

Growing up in low-income housing, there were moments where survival mode became normal. Financial struggles, emotional stress, limited resources, and being surrounded by environments where people were often carrying unresolved pain made it difficult to fully understand mental and emotional wellness at a young age. Many of us were taught to suppress emotions instead of process them.

One of the biggest struggles was learning how to believe in a different vision for my life while being surrounded by limitations and uncertainty. There were times I questioned myself, my purpose, and whether the work I wanted to do could truly make an impact. Building something rooted in mindfulness and healing can also be challenging because it’s not always immediately understood or valued in a fast-paced world focused on productivity and external success.

Balancing work, personal growth, financial responsibilities, and entrepreneurship has also been a journey. For years, I worked as a doorman while simultaneously trying to build True Life Tranquility, create content, help others, and invest in my own growth. There were moments of burnout, self-doubt, and feeling stretched thin mentally and emotionally.

Even with the philanthropy work overseas, while it’s incredibly fulfilling, it also opened my eyes to deeper realities around poverty, lack of access, and human struggle. Witnessing children and communities in need can be emotionally heavy, but it also strengthened my sense of purpose and reminded me why compassion, mindfulness, and service matter so much.

At the same time, every obstacle taught me resilience. The struggles helped shape my perspective, deepen my empathy, and strengthen my commitment to helping others heal, grow, and realize they’re not alone in what they’re going through. In many ways, the difficult moments became the foundation for the work I do today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about True life Tranquility ?
True Life Tranquility is more than just a mindfulness brand. It’s a platform centered around healing, self-awareness, emotional wellness, and authentic human connection. My mission is to help people reconnect with themselves in a world that constantly pulls them in different directions mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Through mindfulness practices, meditation, breathwork, storytelling, interviews, community outreach, and content creation, I aim to create experiences that help people slow down, reflect, and find peace within themselves. A lot of what I do focuses on making mindfulness feel approachable and relatable, especially for people who may not have grown up around conversations about mental health, emotional healing, or self-care.

One thing that sets True Life Tranquility apart is that the brand is deeply rooted in real-life experience and authenticity. I’m not approaching this work from a place of perfection. I’m someone who has experienced struggle, uncertainty, emotional stress, and the process of trying to heal while navigating everyday life. Because of that, I try to meet people where they are without judgment.

I’m also proud of how the brand blends mindfulness with creativity, culture, and community impact. Whether it’s teaching mindfulness and breathwork to youth, interviewing people about life and healing, creating wellness content online, writing books, or supporting communities overseas through philanthropy work in Kenya, everything is connected through the same purpose: helping people feel more grounded, present, and connected to themselves and others.

Another thing I’m proud of is creating spaces and conversations that feel human. In today’s world, people are overwhelmed with noise, comparison, and pressure. I want True Life Tranquility to feel like a reminder to pause, breathe, and remember that healing and growth are possible no matter where someone comes from.

Moving forward, I want readers to know that True Life Tranquility is continuing to grow into a larger wellness and impact-driven platform through workshops, community events, meditation experiences, storytelling projects, youth programs, humanitarian efforts, and digital content designed to inspire inner peace and personal transformation.

At its core, the brand is about one simple idea: peace begins within, and when people heal internally, it creates ripple effects that can positively impact families, communities, and the world around them.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was playing basketball in my neighborhood growing up in New York City. Honestly, there was a point where I truly believed I was going to make it to the NBA. Basketball was more than just a game for me. It was an escape, a passion, and something that brought people together in the community.

I spent countless hours outside playing on the courts with friends, competing, learning discipline, and building confidence. In my neighborhood, basketball was part of the culture, and I took a lot of pride in being one of the better players around. Those moments taught me about teamwork, resilience, and believing in myself even when resources or opportunities were limited.

Looking back, basketball also became one of the first things that gave me a sense of purpose and focus. It kept me grounded during difficult times and created memories and friendships I’ll always carry with me. Even today, I still reflect on those moments because they remind me of the joy, ambition, and freedom that came from simply being a kid with a dream.
