Hi Breanna , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, cooking was woven into the fabric of my life. Around 9 years old, I would watch my late mother as she lovingly prepared meals for our family, her passion for feeding others always evident. She often cooked for the community, and that desire to give back through food has stayed with me. After almost losing my son prematurely due to life-threatening circumstances, I found myself unable to return to work. I turned to what I knew best—cooking—and pursued it full-time. Though it has been a tough journey, my business grows stronger each day, fueled by the same passion my mother instilled in me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t been easy. As a first-time mom, I faced overwhelming challenges, with no real knowledge of how to navigate this new life and no village for support. The loss of finances made everything even harder, and I fell into a deep depression, feeling like I was spiraling out of control. When my mother transitioned, it pushed me even deeper, and I became numb to life—I wasn’t myself.
But coming out of that darkness is what now drives me to go harder than ever. I’m learning how to be a mom, still discovering who I am, and growing my business all at once. While there are still struggles, my mindset has changed, and I live by the belief that “A changed mind is a changed life!” That keeps me moving forward.

My business, Genèse Catering, originally started as a mobile bar that served food, but we’ve since fully transitioned into catering. As a chef and caterer, I provide high-quality, flavorful food, paired with a vibrant and productive energy that enhances any event. We specialize in Cajun fusion cuisine but are not limited to one style—we tailor our offerings to meet the unique tastes of each client.
What sets us apart is the distinctive flavor in every dish I create. My food has a unique taste, and beyond that, I pride myself on integrity and exceptional customer service, something that seems to be fading these days. I genuinely care about my clients, ensuring they feel secure and valued throughout the process.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in “luck”—I believe in God. He’s the one who blesses me and protects my business. When I manifest something, I trust that God hears me and, if it’s meant to be, it will come to pass. If He says no, I accept it as protection from what I can’t see. A lot of the challenges I faced in the past were due to my own lack of knowledge, true drive, and accountability. But now that I’ve grown, everything has been moving uphill, and I’m grateful for the journey.
