Hi Brenae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had a passion for interior design as long as I can remember. For years, I helped friends and family with their spaces and even worked on flipping our own houses. After nearly a decade of staying home to raise my four little ones, life took an unexpected turn as I had no choice but to leave my marriage; I suddenly found myself needing to be able to provide for my kids — and quickly. On a chilly February morning in 2022, I decided to take a leap into the unknown and turn what I loved into a business. I didn’t know the first thing about running a company back then, but I was determined to figure it out. I honestly didn’t have much of a choice. My kids were counting on me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating a brand new business from the ground up while also going through so much personally — navigating an unexpected divorce, losing friends, starting over — has been one of the hardest but most empowering, and most beautiful paths I’ve ever walked. Early on in my entrepreneurship journey, I made a promise to myself: no matter how much I had to learn, there was nothing I couldn’t figure out. Unsure? Ask someone. Don’t know how to do something? Research. Problem solve. Research more. Just don’t give up. That mindset has truly carried me through these past three years as I’ve built a thriving, successful interior design business!
As you know, we’re big fans of Bren Bradley Home. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Bren Bradley Home is a Full Service Interior Design studio that serves Houston and beyond (yes, we can travel all over Texas and the US!). We specialize in kitchen and bath remodels, home furnishings and new construction. Our goal is to create thoughtfully curated, welcoming spaces for clients to truly live in. We highly value our clients’ trust and our team strives to bring warmth, enthusiasm, creativity and expertise to every project we take on!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me — as a believer, a mother, a business owner — is multi-faceted. Am I honoring Jesus in the way I live and run my company? Am I present and connected with my children, even through the chaos and busyness of entrepreneurship? Am I bringing the highest degree of vision and excellence to my projects? At the end of my life, what will be said about me? I would hope the focus would be on the kind of person and mother I am, how I served and loved those around me — and not just about how much money I made in my business. True success, to me, would be leaving behind a legacy of faith, servanthood and love, above all else.
